Thank you for writing for me. Please have fun and if none of my prompts inspire you, please write something that does :)

Likes
- character driven stories that focus on relationships, add as much or as little plot as you like. I don't mind angst, as long as there's a happy ending.
- all the tropes: undercover as gay/married, only one bed, soulbonds, sex pollen etc

DNW:
- major character death
- rape
- partner betrayal
- established relationship (unless their getting together is in flashbacks or something)
- Unrequited
- A/B/O
- mundane AU's (canon divergence, or really funky AU's are fine)
- surprise!het

Gotham has finally *clicked* with me. I dutifully plodded through season 1 because my housemate likes it and because Batman is my favourite superhero and because I loved Gary Oldman's version of Jim Gordon (and shipped him with Bruce Wayne SO hard) And I like Ben McKenzie from Southland, so a show about Jim Gordon pre-Batman days, I was SO ready to love this.

And then it just didn't do much for me, probably because it is as much about the origin stories of the villains as it is about Jim Gordon and boring earnest teenager Bruce Wayne. Last week we'd got about up to 2.3, maybe and I actually said to my housemate, I'm just not interested in villains...

(and then we went to see Suicide Squad and about a third of the way in after they'd introduced the characters and send them on the mission it occurred to me I was watching a film about villains and was worried I'd be bored, but then they started bonding and supporting each other so I enjoyed the film, yay).

So my take away from s1 was, I liked Jim. I liked Harvey (once he started supporting Jim and on the path to redemption) and I liked Alfred, for his care for Bruce and because Sean Pertwee is a sexy mofo. And everyone else bored me. Because I don't care about the villains shenanigans.

I did go looking for Jim/Harvey fic and discovered that the main pairing in this fandom is Jim/Oswald Cobblepot aka the Penguin. Which made me boggle a bit, but I figured we'd be seeing more of them interacting, and that has indeed been the case, but i still had NO interest in the Penguin as a character.

Then s2 started. Jim got darker and more interesting and he and Harvey are close and that makes me happy *sigh*

BUT then Alfred fucking slapped a teenage girl hard across the face WTF (and was then verbally cruel to her) so has earned my contempt and I no longer find him attractive *sorry*

BUT THEN THE PENGUIN. Got more interesting. As did Ed Nygma (aka the Riddler at some point probably), previously utterly repulsive and creepy AF, at some point has turned into a HOT AF creepy villain...

AND THEN THEY MET AND I AM LIKE HELLO WHAT HAVE WE HERE

SO MANY ADORABLE PHOTOS OF THE ACTORS TOGETHER

Robin Lord Taylor, who plays the Penguin, has a cool twitter

Apparently I CAN LIKE AND SHIP AND BE INVESTED IN VILLAINS. Hannibal ruined me

Specific plot development thing I really didn't like )

(So i think I'm about up to 2.11 now, but am not bothered about spoilers, fyi)

Dragonfly and Bunny went late night shopping* tonight so we've only had time to watch one ep of something tonight. I gave Dfly the choice of:

New season eps of Downton Abbey, Sleepy Hollow or Person of Interest, or the pilot of GOTHAM

...and to her own gobsmackedness she chose Downton Abbey!!

Now we're watching it and I've shouted at Thomas to shut up twice already. GAH, I just want him to come to a sticky end and put everyone out of our misery. Every now and again they give us hints that he has redeeming qualities but it's just not enough, he's just a vicious little shite.

*For non-Australians, 'late night shopping' refers to the fact that shops shut on weekdays between 5-6pm, except on Thursdays when they stay open till *gasp* NINE PM. Periodically we have referendums to decide if we will reject our Parochial ways and embrace Globalism and start opening 24/7 and we keep knocking it back, but they are slowly finding loopholes and ways around the laws so that some types of shops now open Sundays and later in the evenings, but not the shopping centres.

Fun Gathering today, lots of Vividcon vids watched, yay!

I'd mentioned a few vids I'd seen and enjoyed in the last couple of days (just found them from the lj vidding comm:

Batman and Mumford and Sons combo - I Gave You All (Under The Red Hood/Jason Todd) (I'd never heard of this movie but now I really want to see it)

Captain America comics (Steve/Bucky) set to OMG Celine Dion - It's All Coming Back to Me Now

Oh, this is a fantastic Dr who vid -
Summer of 69

Stayed up stupidly late last night reading this, totally hooked, though the theme isn't normally to my taste at all (angst/memory loss). It's Tony/Steve, but it's really about Tony coping with slowly losing himself. Great plot and roadtrip, with bonus Loki - The Last Love Song of Anthony E. Stark by jibrailis

And for anyone who's into Person of Interest who doesn't know Speranza's just posted a wonderful little Reece/Finch fic -
The Silenus Club by Speranza

It's about the FRIENDSHIP between Batman and Jim Gordon and the timing! and the clips! and the music! are all PERFECT.

Everybody watch it and see how BRILLIANT it is!!!!!!!!

In less than a week I've written 8000 words of a new Batman fic, in between working, looking after Bunny and TWO parties. It's like floodgates have opened in my mind, or something. I really don't want to stop, in case this is it and I never get this again.

::koff:: Of course, it means I've had to take a personal day off work to write my assignment for uni due this week. Er, I'll start doing that, then.

Anyhow, my first fic is finally posted.

Five Ways Jim Gordon Found Out Bruce Wayne is Batman, and One Way Everyone Did

It's perfectly innocent gen fic and the plot is pretty much what the title says.

Bruce has been affected by the Scarecrow's 'fear' drug.

Bruce - I'm having horrible visions...of my father.

Bruce staggers to his feet. Alfred reaches out with both hands to steady him, looking worried, but Bruce(not noticing) turns away.

Bruce *staring over the lair's ledge* He says I'm shaming the family name.

Alfred - That's rubbish! *walks up behind Bruce and puts his hand on his shoulder* I know your father would be proud of you... *Bruce turns to face him and Alfred puts his other hand on Bruce's other shoulder* ...because I'M so proud of you.

Me - Awwww.

Bunny *glances at me*

Alfred - *tugs at Bruce's arm* Now come on, it's time for some chicken soup and a good night's sleep.

They walk across the lair to the console - arms around each other.

Bruce - Alfred? *puts his hand on Alfred's shoulder* Thanks.

Me - AWWWWWW.

Bunny *earnestly* I'm proud of him too. For trying hard!

These recs are mostly (but not all!!) centred around Commissioner Gordon. Also, they are not all the Gordon fics out there, just the ones that I particularly liked, obviously.

For ALL your Gordon needs there is [livejournal.com profile] nowweretwo and [livejournal.com profile] commish_gordon. I recommend [livejournal.com profile] commish_gordon in particular, as the mod links to all Gordon fics he can find, so it's pretty much a one stop shop.

- After the PMS from hell last week, followed by a weekend of euphoric energy and mad productivity, my body has now completed the cycle with annoying inconvenient physical symptoms of which I have only this to say. Ow. A lot. And also, see how I'm stupidly not asleep? This mindset where I go to work no matter how shit I feel (I blame 7 years of shift work) is really something I'm going to have to lose. Stupid headache today = 3 hours to type up the notes from a teleconference. Not a shining example of efficiency. Also my boss came out his office twice to stare at me worriedly and tell me to go home.

- Needless to say, got nothing productive done tonight, except beta reading a short fic. Then watched a couple more episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures with Dragonfly. This is a really good show, if you get past the pilot. Which I didn't, first time I tried it. I'm glad [livejournal.com profile] angriest told me to get over myself and just watch it already. And kid friendly of course.

- My beta says my 7000 word Batman fic needs more "Gothamic atmosphere" and my Gordon needs to be more "coppy". I totally agree, and I am not even grumpy - I'm having so much fun writing this.

- One of my lecturers last semester said that Australia has the most restricted press of any democracy. I said, disbelievingly, surely not worse than America? The Australian, on Seven's refusal to show the booked and paid for Get Up ad at the Opening Ceremony of the Beijing Olympics.

- Spent $14 a 'connector' to enable my modem to be plugged directly into the wall so I could test if it was the phone line causing the internet speed from hell. Only to realise as I pulled out the double adapter from my old school phone jack that the modem had the right jack already to be able to plug in in the first place *headdesk* *headdesk* *headdesk* I think the iinet IT person and I completely confused each other. I blame her a little bit for assuming that the jack had to be the small one you get now, and for it not occurring to her to just ask the idiot customer, what is your modem plugged into now? And I blame me a lot for teh stoopid. Long story short, bolded because, hell I'd be skimming this waffle, the land line is faulty and killing our internet, therefore our land line is currently disconnected. I am contactable pretty much all the time by email anyway, and of course, we have our mobiles.

Hmmph

Me *cries* [livejournal.com profile] angriest gave me a cartoon of Commissioner Gordon cut into pieces.
[livejournal.com profile] cricketk - Why would he do that?!
Me - Because he knew how DISTRAUGHT I was over that fic I read where Gordon got cut into pieces.
Cricketk - That'll teach you to be so mean to him at all the time!!!

Disclaimer - Sure, I tease him a bit, and okay, I steal his chips, and yes, I have had one of his Dr Who dvds for like, three months, but this is the man who once threatened me with Dr Who spoilers.

There's no justice.

Um, I'm not very good at being in The Dark Knight fandom. All I want to do is read nice little gen Commissioner Gordon fics but THOSE DAMN SLASHERS GET EVERYWHERE.

Things I have learned about TDK fandom.

1. Batman/Joker is THE pairing of choice, apparently, though I have had to scroll very fast past something that is apparently a 'kinkfic' involving Gordon/Harvey and I can't say anything more if you haven't seen the movie but. ew.

2. WIPs drown everything else out.

3. Not really surprisingly, lots of non-con, sexual violence, other violence.

4. Apparently it's acceptable to header your fic with: I finished this in four hours. Four hours! I'm more used to writing stories in four months. What just happened? How did I do that? I should probably re-read this before posting it. Y'kno what- I don't care. Just read. Suffer through my typos.

Um, no. Bye.

And now I just read a short fic because it had Gordon in it and was well written and I kept hoping he'd get rescued, but no, the Joker carved him up into little pieces and now I have to go curl up in a ball somewhere and whimper for a while.

If there is anybody who doesn't know this yet, The Dark Knight is an awesome, awesome film. Go see it.

Also awesome, Gary Oldman as Lt Jim Gordon. I am now enjoying an unusual fixation on Commissioner Gordon**Thanks to wiki I now have an extensive overview of Batman canon/s, which goes only a tiny way towards explaining why on the bus home tonight I found myself writing a random scene where his wife leaves him... yeah, I don't even KNOW, WTF?

This week I have

- written 2000+ words of a Jim Gordon fic.

- dragged [livejournal.com profile] cricketk and [livejournal.com profile] juffles off to see TDK.

- had an algebra lesson from Cricket (probably the first of many omg).

I plan to finish the fic before uni starts next week. I have found the motivation for when I'm procrastinating - if I'm not actually writing I HAVE TO DO ALGEBRA PROBLEMS INSTEAD.

**Do NOT read all the way down to the TDK synopis if you haven't seen the film.

In the car afterwards...

Me - And could Christian Bale GET any hotter? I don't think so!
[livejournal.com profile] special_trille *pause* I could do without the assault charges...
Me *stares at her horrified*
Trille - You didn't know?
Me - NO OMG.
Trille - How could you not know?
Me - I have had my computer turned off for a week.
Trille ....
Me - Tell me.
Trille - I can't.
Me - Tell me.
Trille - It's bad.
Me - Girlfriend?
Trille - Worse.
Me - Kid?
Trille - Mother and sister.
Me *bands head on steering wheel repeatedly*
Trille - There's a possibility it was just verbal assault and all LIES, anyway.
Me *cries*

So, um, saw Dark Knight )

Meanwhile, Eric Roberts continues to be one of the hottest men on the planet. It's hard to believe he's 52. Yes, I am shallow.
