Just found this adorable 2010 Swedish film about two senior politicians from rival parties who fall in love. It has romance, misunderstandings, angst and, of course, a happy ending, I've watched it three times in under 24 hours (because I'm on holidays and CAN)

For Australians it's on SBS on Demand for the rest of the year, yay!

One and only fic on AO3 - Let's Tell the Press by nineveh_uk. Thankfully, it's awesome and funny.

Yeah, I'll be requesting this for Yuletide :)

Thank you for volunteering to write my little fandom, I already love you :)

I hope I gave you plenty of ideas to play with and inspire you. I've tried to give you lots of scope, but if you find you can't work with them, or if you have another brilliant idea that excites you to write, then don't feel locked in to my prompts. I really believe the most important thing about Yuletide is writing a story that you're enthusiastic about and have fun writing.

Just briefly with the likes/dislikes - I love character driven stories that focus on relationships (either ships or devoted friendships), add as much or as little plot as you like. Please, please, NO character death, rape, partner betrayal etc. I don't mind angst, as long as there's a happy ending. I am all about TEH HAPPY.

EDIT: PS- In case you have not yet been by, or have wandered back for another looksee, I just wanted to add (having now persued some other letters and realised I didn't think to mention it) that you are in no way limited to writing only my nominated characters, feel free to include anyone else in canon or even OCs if you like.

Betrayed by yet another gay film *cries* It was all cute and adorable and romantic with the cop, they caught the bad guy and then the artist is all painty again and asking some friend who fancies him out on a date. THE END.

*sulks* May as well be studying...

Dear Santa

I think most of us tend to write the sort of prompt we’d like to get ourselves. I think (hope) I gave you enough to go on to spark ideas without strangling your creativity.

Can I say again, any ideas I suggested were just that – feel free to take the story in another direction if that’s the story idea that you’re enthusiastic about. It is just as important for the writers to have fun too. I promise you I mean that.

My only caveats are
- Some kind of happy ending.
- No rape or deathfic.
- It probably goes without saying, given that I chose three gay films, but no het, please.

IF you do click on the link, I am going to babble excitedly about my choices at you in some detail, so if you feel you have plenty to go on already, and don’t want to feel constrained, I strongly encourage you NOT to read the letter. Really truly!!!.

Are you sure? )

Look! You can make sure you're enrolled to vote!

I just checked my Dad, and it looks like he might have fallen off somehow. (unless he has a middle name he's been keeping sekrit all these years).

Am I morally obliged to tell him? He's a rabid John Howard supporter.

In other news I just gave a coworker unsolicited fashion advice. Which boiled down to 'omg that shirt sucks'.

Possibly I should not interact with humans when this tired.

I am going to some Pride film at Paradiso tonight. I would bet actually money that I will not be able to stay conscious. Unless there's gay porn of course.

You know that thing, 'if you could go back in time to witness one event, what would it be?' My interest in history not withstanding, my answer has always, always been - I'd go to a Queen concert. Because I am shallow.

Yeah, I've changed my mind. Where's a damned time machine when you need one? Though actually, since all the actors involved are still alive, and still hot like molten lava, maybe we could convince them to do it again?

Rope was always my favourite Hitchcock film mostly because the main characters were a gay couple, even if they were, you know, murderers. And here it says the gay aspect was played down in the film!!! OMG can you imagine the play, with Barrowman and Denisof? *is ded*

They messed with my favourite film.

How could they do that to me!

So, the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] silver_b_a bought me 'Regular Guys' on DVD for Christmas and today I finally get a chance to watch it in peace.

Now, understand that my taped-off-SBS copy is nearly dead from the repeated watching so it's been squirrelled away for special occasions and in fact I haven't watched the film in a couple of years.

So I put the film on, get to the scene where Chris (straight cop) has just moved in and is asleep at the kitchen table. Edgar (gorgeous gay guy) pauses in the doorway and murmurs 'It was love at first sight'

Little alarm bells go off in my head - that doesn't sound right - but I keep watching. Edgar and Chris go to a bar and run into Chris' partners. Chris introduces Edgar as 'a friend of a friend'.

At this point I stop the DVD and drag out my old worn out tape.

Some bastard has changed the translations for DVD. I am very sad.

'It was love at first sight' should to be 'I fell in love with you at first sight.'

And 'a friend of a friend', should to be 'an acquaintance of mine'.

Y'all can see why I'm upset, can't you?

Can't you?

I hate to think what they've ruined changed my favourite line into.

'Du machst mir blind'.

Watched 'The Day of the Jackal', cos Foxtel have been plugging it all week and I'm easily influenced, and also it just came on and there was this moment when we could have changed channels, and there was indecisiveness and then it was as if that had been the plan all along.

Pretty damn good film. No excess graphic violence, no blood and guts, no car chases, no music score to tell us what to feel and when. May look into 'classic' films....

Spoilery mention of queer bits in the Jackal films )
