Just found this adorable 2010 Swedish film about two senior politicians from rival parties who fall in love. It has romance, misunderstandings, angst and, of course, a happy ending, I've watched it three times in under 24 hours (because I'm on holidays and CAN)
For Australians it's on SBS on Demand for the rest of the year, yay!

One and only fic on AO3 - Let's Tell the Press by nineveh_uk. Thankfully, it's awesome and funny.

Yeah, I'll be requesting this for Yuletide :)

I have the rest of the year to watch it for free. If I still love it after that I'll probably buy it.
It's just a NICE film. Nothing mean happens, no one is publicly humiliated.

Date: 2018-06-16 06:07 am (UTC)In the end, I bought it on DVD from Amazon Germany, which was almost as cheap as renting movies usually is (4€), and has the advantage of having German subtitles instead of English.
From watching the trailers, I decided that Swedish is closer to German than it is to English, and so assumed that the subtitles wouldn't be quite as jarring that way.
It kinda worked.
My brain now insists I speak Swedish, which is *absolutely* not the case. I just started dreaming jibberish. //) Not helpful, brain.
I wish the DVD extras had subtitles, too. Watching the behind-the-scenes footage and interviews without understanding a single word (except homosexual...) is so frustrating.
I have watched the movie twice since the DVD arrived on Thursday. I don't usually watch movies more than once, ever. But in this case, the subtitles were so distracting that I barely watched their faces. (And they're so good! The faces, I mean. The subtitles are barely above fansub levels.)
So I think I'm going to rewatch until I know the dialogue by heart and can concentrate on the acting. *g* It really is a very sweet movie, I like it a lot. (Very much Yuletide material.)
I also found a good music playlist with all the (Ratata) songs from the movie (tumblr, spotify).
I was listening to his songs all Friday at work. That may be part of why my brain now insists on dreaming in Swedish-or-something. ;)
Long story short: thank you so much for the rec!
I will (hopefully) post a rec post and some caps sometime this month.
