Stuffs

I have just realised I have been at my new shiny, awesome job for a month!!!

I haven't really posted since then because I've been working flat out weekdays and then coming home and pretty much lapsing into a stupor, and on the weekends also managing two fannish obsessions concurrently - Merlin, the new shiny where people keep writing fabulous fics for me to read, and Green Wing, where there isn't any fic so I'm having to write it myself. I have three and counting finished, two slash and one scary crack het fic involving a strap-on. I'm thinking threesome next. I think this fandom broke my brain.

So, of course, random links naow:

Also! Is anybody interested in going to the Pride Quiz Night on Friday 27th Feb? Yes, we always bomb miserably. There's always hangman.

I am looking for my passport. No, really, I am. I couldn't do it the other night because ahem, I don't have a light in my bedroom.

Things I have found so far

1. Aforementioned year 10 science book.

2. Many random photos, including me when I had hair to my waist, various piccies of our slashers over the years, a publicity photo of Marina Sirtis (what?)

3. A lighter.

4. 2 x Indonesian knives with wooden handles that sort of slot into each other. I used to keep that by my bed when I lived alone. Now that I live with a small child I'm thinking BIN.

5. Many, many coins from various countries, including a 1965 £1 coin that I was gifted when I was really young. I wonder if it's worth anything.

6. A keyring of Sarah Michelle Geller looking dead sexy that I bought many years ago at a Highlander con. My first thought was - hmm must give that to [livejournal.com profile] bardigrub. Except now that I think about it, I think I bought one exactly the same for her at the time. Unless I forgot to give it to her...

7. My rainbow Pride collar. Will think about wearing it tonight to BBM.

and lastly

8. Many, many very old, and dated Star Trek zines. DOES ANYBODY WANT THESE BEFORE I BIN THEM?

I've changed the reservation at Valentinos to 7pm so that we'll have time to order and get the food rolling before the actual parade, so as not to piss everyone off *g*

SEVEN PM.

It's under my name, but we'll be the big tables by the road anyhow.

Oh look! I'm organising!

The Pride Parade is on Saturday 29th October.

Valentino's have a set menu of $39.50 for choices of entree, main, and dessert. If someone's passing by soon (Trille?) they could pick up the pamphlet and tell us what they actually are. I like their food anyway, so I'd recommend it.

I have arranged two tables of ten out on the street for 7.30pm. People need to confirm within two weeks so that I can give them a final head count.

Friends welcome too, of course :)

Usually on Thursday mornings I use lj to procrastinate about cleaning the floors, today I used cleaning the floors to procrastinate about writing the story. *sigh*

Last night [livejournal.com profile] special_trille and I were agreeing that it was probably a good thing that neither of us have easy internet access during work hours as we would both be the types who post hourly updates eg "My knee hurts". And that would be sad.

btw, I'm currently eating Nacho Cheese biscuits cos there's nothing else to eat in the house *ignores vegetables*

So, last night. Pride Quiz Night. I learned a lot. I learned that nobody at our table (not mentioning any names) knows anything about art, literature, science or politics. Pop culture, however, we ROCK at. Especially Star Trek - we won a prize for our knowledge of Star Trek.

*pause*

What?

Also, we sort of lost focus towards the end. I blame [livejournal.com profile] zebra363 for distracting me with hangman during the speechifying, but really, *looks at Jody and [livejournal.com profile] silver_b_a pointedly* playing during the rounds?

[livejournal.com profile] maharetr and [livejournal.com profile] farleigh_30 were also guilty there.

I screwed up the other night. I got the Saturday night off work to go the Pride Parade, which was fabulous as always, though it lost something not having Sandy marching (what the hell is she thinking being in some exotic other part of the world during Pride???). So, here I am, in the presence of alcohol, with no work the next day and also, not the designated driver. Chance to party!! Except then I forgot to overindulge...

*mourns* Obviously I'm getting old. Also evidenced by my wussing out of partying on at the Court later, not cos I didn't want to but because I wore my fabulous new boots, totally forgetting that it's been at least five years since I wore heels like that. and just standing watching the parade made the balls of my feet hurt...

*facepalms*

So dumb. At least my sexy outfit made me fit in as I'm told by my friends that I looked like a drag queen! *glares at [livejournal.com profile] emma_in_oz and [livejournal.com profile] special_trille*

In other exciting news I had Korean BBQ the other night for the first time and loved it!! Trying new foods is always a bit of a gamble for me, my taste buds are very conservative, despite my best intentions. But since old, old (non-ljing) friends were taking me out to dinner I let them choose and we sat outside at this table with hot coals in the middle and my mates cooked my food for me (I prodded it occasionally and said things like "are you sure this is cooked (it was quite dark) I don't want food poisoning" - I'm so gracious) and we had a lovely lovely time. Even when the waiter smashed a bottle of beer right at my feet, splashing my beige seude coat, I didn't sweat it.

Side note for anyone who hasn't been out somewhere with me - If I don't break/spill something myself, guaranteed someone in my immediate vicinity will with absolutely no help from me

Also. Go read this. Trust me.

Edited to add Gah! Should have specified - people willing to read HP should go read the fic...sometimes I just forget that there are people who don't.
