Oct. 14th, 2008 01:29 pmFinally, after more than a year of intense lobbying, the Senate will debate laws tomorrow that remove discrimination against same sex couples.
The latest word from Canberra is that some politicians who want to keep this discrimination will stall the bill once again with amendments. That's why we'll be walking the halls of Parliament with your petition in hand to convince our pollies to get the job done.
We need to make sure this petition is as large as possible. We'll be carrying it with us to convince those wavering on the issue to vote to end discrimination now.

May. 3rd, 2008 10:02 pmI wanted to show someone the awesomeness of Alan Cumming and discovered that youtube is really, really not working for me tonight. No really.
Got annoyed that his IMDB lists under 'Spouse' his previous marriage/divorce, but his civil partnership with Grant Shaffer only rates a mention under 'Trivia'!
Instead of just whinging about it on LJ, which was my first impulse obviously, decided to be pro-active and registered with IMDB in order to submit a correction.
( Will wait with bated breath to find out if it gets approved )

Danny and Brett would still be breaking the law in hotel rooms, or at Brett's country homes. *sigh* as the 1967 laws decriminalising homosexual acts only applied if they were the only two people on the premises. Even threesomes with girls weren't allowed. *is shocked*

So, um. Something probably very few people know about me. I like Metal. I like Industrial. I went to The Big Day Out. Once. Because Rammstein were playing. Everything else was a bonus.

Nov. 14th, 2005 11:15 pmAannd another promise to myself to sit down and make a work-related post turns into...not...
It's like, when there's this show that you watch when you're home, which isn't often cos you're usually say, WORKING, on the night it's on, and it's a good show, and it has a WOMAN in the lead role, and she's a really cool character and actually when you do watch it you think you should really make more of an effort cos it's worth it, and then ...OMG COLD CASE TONIGHT!!
It was all about a teenage love story set in the 1930's and Prohibition, and there's bootlegging and a speakeasy and a black girl who dresses in men's clothes, and an innocent white girl and they risk everything to be together and there's beautiful love poetry and slow dancing in public and of course it all ends in TRAGEDY.
And it was so beautiful and I was in TEARS.
And of course nobody taped this, did they?
*wonders if she can justify buying an entire series of a show for one episode*
