LIFE is conspiring against me for writing Treats this year, last night Bunny was up to early season 5 Leverage which has some of the best eps of the show. so of course I had to stay and watch with her - the one about the 1970s hijacker where they all get to play 70s characters, the one which his pretty much all Parker with a gammy leg foiling a crime while stuck in the office on top of the bar and my FAVOURITE episode ever, where Hardison, Parker and Eliot foil a terrorist plot cos that ep is all about loyalty and trust and love. I posted a few screencaps a couple of years ago when LJ still used to let me upload pics (the first half dozen here

Ha, during the best scene where Eliot has hold of the back of Hardison's neck and is intently telling him that he is the smartest man he has ever met etc, there was a mozzie or something and Dragonfly and Bunny got distracted and were talking and I was completely reasonable and only shouted at them a little bit to shut up and now we have to rewatch the whole scene, SHHHH.

And then my bestie who reads all my fics for characterisation even when she doesn't know the fandom told me that my ending on my Sense8 fic needed a lot of work so I ended up staying up stupidly late and have had four hours sleep and i really don't want to cycle to the station today (it's only 5kms) but i piked the last couple of days because after our mild and windy weekend Monday and Tuesday were 39 degrees each, and now it's fallen back to the 20s, so no excuse. Haven't even walked the dog cos she's been limping - Dfly is taking her to the vet today.

I am tired enough that I nearly didn't bother trying to find a last minute characterisation/plot beta but I really like to try to make my fics as good as they can be so I have emailed the few people on the yuletide beta list who offered Sense8, see if any of them have nothing better to do on Christmas - if not, I tried :)

off to work now. on my bike. *cries*

My cat woke me at dawn, like usual. And got sprayed with water, as usual. It’s a thing we do.

I realised that my exposed hand was freezing – at some point during the night I had taken off the gloves I sleep in when it’s very cold. Like, they didn’t just work themselves off, they were placed together in the bed next to me. Previously I’ve occasionally woken up in the morning without the jumper I’d worn to bed, or the pyjama top, or even, on one memorable occasion, without my pyjama bottoms, which was super weird. But taking off the gloves and apparently deliberately putting them down together is new.

It was 1.5°, not, like, arctic conditions or anything, but when I put the gloves back on my fingers felt all uncomfortably tingly as they started to warm up. I am a special snowflake, clearly.

The shy cat has ventured by several times today to say hello and hang out for a while just out of petting distance.

The ginger one lets me know, loudly, when he wants to be fed, or let outside (at length, as I am not allowed to let him out yet because of his wound) and otherwise comes for cuddles of an evening.

These two have made me realise how high maintenance our own cats are. Nobody drapes themself over my arms so I can't type, or meows piteously every time I go to the kitchen or the laundry. Seriously, I'm even getting uninterrupted nights' sleep where I get to wake up at my own leisure. Though I'm sure I half woke once last night to the giant (amazingly heavy) ginger lying snuggled into my neck, lightly kneading with claws. Also, I went to sleep with the electric blanket on the lowest setting, simply because I don't have that luxury in my Real Life, and it was turned off when I got up. I don't have any memory of doing that...

Did not get much study done. However I did make stuffed mushrooms for dinner. \o/ After improvising all but the mushrooms and bacon, as the house owner - in defiance of everything I thought I knew about her - inexplicably failed to have feta in her fridge (or the right herbs).

I am house-sitting - or rather, cat-sitting. One is a huge ginger who's just had an op and I have to shove four pills down him twice a day. He doesn't seem to hold a grudge though, joins me in the evening for schmoozing if I'm on the couch. Though maybe the way I constantly end up covered in ginger hair is actually his revenge! The other cat I mainly see from a distance. Though she did come into the study tonight to say hello, briefly. Shortly after I heard a sound such as something heavy hitting the ground after being dislodged by a cat jumping on it. Disconcertingly, the *thud* sound was followed by a piteous *meow*, but when I went to investigate she was lounging innocently on a bed. I still don't know what happened.

I'm supposed to be studying but was distracted hours ago by someone posting a link to [livejournal.com profile] fandomsecrets. *is disappointed in self*

Haaaha - this was totally me as a kid.

It's been an eye-opener! I now know... )

Must. go. to. bed. now...

My cat has just come and sat next to the computer and firmly nipped me on the arm because I haven't fed her yet. THE THINGS I HAVE TO PUT UP WITH.

Last night when my cat woke me at 2am YET AGAIN, I had my straw/camel moment. I went and got the water spray bottle and got back into bed and shortly thereafter, when my cat meowed piercingly behind my shoulder I didn't even move, just sprayed her. She was a bit surprised and fell off the bed, which was hilarious at the time.

I told Dragonfly about it today and she was like "she's so been playing you".

A few minutes ago my cat woke me by meowing in my ear. SECONDS LATER there was the sound of prolonged vomiting in the hall outside my room. It was Dragonfly's cat, who lives at Dragonfly's end of the house and has never been down here at night, EVER.

My cat brought reinforcements.

or rather, the sound of my phone hitting the wooden floor after my cat swiped it off of the bedside table, woke me.

Then there was the usual early morning drama of letting the pets out to go to the toilet, cos once one's up, they're all up, then I no sooner stagger back to bed then they want to come in again.

Tonight I've not only closed the blinds, I've drawn the curtains, hoping to fool my cat into sleeping longer. It didn't occur to me before because I love waking to a sunny room.

Between my being woken too early in the mornings, and my going to bed way, stupidly way, late nearly every night in an attempt to mainline two seasons of True Blood in one week, I am racking up a mega sleep deficit. Why yes, it is impacting my work.

Important question: where can I find me some good True Blood fic? It doesn't even have to be slash, though I wouldn't say no to a hot Eric/Sookie/Bill fic.

Great, the occasionally Russian spammers messaging me asking to be friends was freaky enough, now I've actually been friended by a brand new just created Russian journal.
Crrreeeeepy.

I used to be a Rammstein fan, a long time ago. I went to my first Big Day Out, the year they headlined. Haven't really paid much attention for years now. Apparently they're going where no band (that I've ever heard of, anyway) has gone before. "Pussy". WARNING WILL ROBINSON. Yeah, it's just porn. NSFW NSFW NSFW.

I *love* this house in Bayswater I've been watching it for a while now (in case it blinks) and I don't understand why it hasn't sold, great location, too good to be true price - maybe there's a clan lab opposite or something. I think the first piece of advice I received when I started househunting was, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is, followed by an anecdote about how friends of theirs had found this killer deal in er either Bayswater or Bassendean, I always get them mixed up, when they were looking at the house they'd noticed the house opposite had high walls but didn't think anything of it and then just in the course of conversation the estate agent let slip that it was a bikie headquarters!!!

Tonight when I stopped off at the bottle shop on my way home to scab boxes off them, which I have been doing 2-3 times a week for the last month or so, they had actually stockpiled some for me in anticipation. Yay for people being nice!!!

Dragonfly sheared the dog a week or so ago. He looks like a poodle wannabe. Which, worth it just for the amusement factor, but I have no idea how we're going to explain it when the pet rescue person comes around to vet us.

I was falling asleep studying so I wandered out the front to collect the advertising material that had collected in the mailbox and spent a few minutes in the fresh air pulling out weeds and then I came inside and thought, hmm fresh air good, why don't I leave the front door open for a while.

Just as well I did. Five minutes later the dog showed up.

So next time you're surprised I forgot your birthday, or to email you, or that we'd made plans, bear in mind I forgot I had a dog.

I left Bunny alone with the cat for five minutes and now the cat is gone.

So, middle of the night I wake up to the sound of retching. I am an old hand at this, even as I leap out of the bed and race to get the back door open I can identify that it's Dragonfly's cat, which means she won't have run directly to the door, like my cat would of - this one waits for me to try to catch her and then bolts out.

Except this time the floor is booby trapped. As I chase her through the lounge room in near total darkness - at speed - I trip over my large black dog innocently sleeping, fly through the air and somehow land on all fours, miraculously not on top of the now freaking out dog, and then spend the next five minutes curled on the floor whimpering. Because, you know, my knees weren't damaged enough already.

And the cat vomited right next to the back door, on her way out.
