For years it was too expensive to buy from Amazon UK.

Suddenly we have this unbelievable too good to be true exchange rate.

Tentatively I bought something. Not only was it five pounds less than the listed price, but the postage was crazy cheap and my item arrived within five days.

I suspect dark magic.

*creaky voice* Before there was the internet, there was zines. And you couldn't pick and choose your slash - I was reading about Commander Ed Straker and Colonel Paul Foster falling in love before I even knew what this show was. And then, many years later we got Foxtel and finally got to see it.

UFO was a 1970 tv series. It's extremely dated now, and not just because it was set in 1980. But it had a lot of really great concepts, not least of which was women in command roles.

Lots more piccies of Straker and Foster and others here.

I have been eyeing off the Complete UFO Megaset since it came out on DVD. It's $120 to buy it locally, $70 on Amazon. I check occasionally to see if it's gone on sale. Today, when I was buying The Saint Megaset for $36 OMG because [livejournal.com profile] zebra363 suggested we have a Roger Moore fest I saw the same Amazon seller has UFO for $14. I am very excited! and suspicious! because it seems too good to be true! but at that price I'm willing to risk it!

Amazon UK have season 4 for 18 pounds ($43) and the other seasons for 23 pounds.

Ooh, and Babylon 5 for 18 pounds.

AND ULTRAVIOLET FOR SEVEN POUNDS.

Must. Fight. Compulsion. To. Order. Smallville. From. Amazon.

*sigh* You know you're obsessed when you actually consider paying US$200 for seasons 1-5, just cos you liked season 2.

Amazon UK have a billion things on sale. I stopped looking after page 80...

Even at the scary, scary exchange rate there's some good deals.

I may have bought Life on Mars s1 (with extras of course) for 16 pounds, and Jeeves and Wooster Complete Series for 15 pounds. And then I may have accidently bought Raffles for 27 pounds which is probably too much for a 1977 series, but, Raffles!

Where did the day go??? DAMN YOU DAYLIGHT SAVINGS.

Okay, I'm up and I have a million things to do before the Christmas party, none of which involve being online.

Oh, look, SHINY.

Amazon have 50% off boxed sets...

Including La Femme Nikita! All five seasons!! I've been eyeing these off for years, promising myself that I'd get them if they ever went to half price, and now I'm like, US $205 is a huge chunk of cash!! but I promised myself!! too much money!! *head explodes*

And yes, V The Series was one of the crappest shows ever, but NOSTALGIA, and it's only $12...

And there's Smallville. And Supernatural.

And I am TOTALLY NOT LOOKING AT ONE TREE HILL. THIS IS YOUR FAULT [livejournal.com profile] thisisbone.

DAMN AMAZON AND THEIR EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS!!!

I was just minding my own business and not paying attention and suddenly I have FOUR boxed sets on their way. Two of them are definitely presents (I do not have fingers crossed behind my back) and another one might be, if I can bear to part with it. (I anticipate much inappropriate fondling of the box) And the last one is because I realised I do not have my own copy of Wonderfalls (despite my habit of giving it as gifts) and that's just not acceptable.

As I was saying. *la la la* you can get the first two seasons of Blake's 7 on dvd from Amazon UK quite cheaply.

Not that I'm buying any more dvd's for a while...

*looks innocent*

What?

....

Oh okay, but I had a five pound voucher that expires in Feb. So it's all right.

'Normal' people have overseas holidays. Fans, or at least fans with poor impulse control go to Amazon UK to pick up Pros on DVD cos it's HALF PRICE and end up buying several other, even more obscure British shows from the 70's as well.

Resulting mood: Euphoric, with a tinge of 'omgwhathaveIdonenow?'

Thought. 'Fans with poor impulse control' What's the word that's the opposite of oxymoron?

Lured [livejournal.com profile] zebra363 over with the promise of Highlander songvids and then forced her to watch three episodes of 'Coupling'. Not a total success, unfortunately, verdict seems to be 'Funny, but the people are unlikeable'. While I was still reeling from that, she added "I especially can't stand the vain one'. Otherwise known as Sally, otherwise known as MY FAVOURITE (my current icon, even)

Meanwhile, 3rd season is on it's way to me via Amazon. Go me.

And I've been reading a bit of Firefly....

Practical jokes. Simon. Jayne. Hotness.

River. Simon. Overtones.

Jayne's been zombified. Gen.

Quite good Simon/Jayne, mostly from Mal's pov.
