No doubt other people are spending their day on productive things. I am compiling a list of which writers wrote which Dr Who episodes, since I am apparently failing at the internets today.

I want to see if it's the same people who keep on giving The Doctor these freakin' superpowers, and/or just generally being crap so I can avoid those episodes be prepared for disappointment.

Just watched 'Human Nature' last night, and it made me SO HAPPY to see Paul Cornell's name in the credits. And omgomgomg I am hanging out for Dragonfly to wake up so we can watch the second part!!

IT'S 10AM, WHY IS SHE NOT UP YET?

Edit - Ooh..interesting.

I'm surprised how many writers there are, and that most people only wrote one episode:

Steven Moffat wrote both my favourite episode 'The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances' and the episode that I disliked the most 'The Girl in the Fireplace'** - and he's written next week's episode 'Blink' too.

Matt Jones wrote my second favourite 'The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit'

Chris Chibnall wrote the rip off of Impossible Planet, '42'

Gareth Roberts wrote the fabulous 'Shakespeare Code'

The episode that made me go omg enough with the daleks already and otherwise bored me to tears, 'Daleks in Manhattan/Evolution of the Daleks' was written by the only female writer, Helen Raynor.

**I know, many people LOVED 'The Girl in the Fireplace. It made me wrathful. There may have been shouting at the computer.

I'm finding them rather uneven too. I really didn't like the trapped-in-rutbucket-spaecraft-while-being-sucked-into-sun one. They already did that last seaon. Though it did look really good. And my, the budget seems to have gone up! I absolutely loved the one in New New York. With the cats.

Which super powers do you mean?

I am liking Human Nature. Can't wait to watch part 2 tonight.

I know! I swear they used the same set. And costumes. Possibly the same actors. *g*

The Doctor I grew up with, you worried about when he was in danger because he was pretty much like us, and sure they'd occasionally pull something amazing like 'yay he's not dead cos he's got a second heart', but now it's like, what magic trick is he going to perform next?

The one that made me shout at the computer was his sudden ability to READ MINDS in 'The Girl in the Fireplace' with that woman who was so amazing and unique and special that he was prepared to abandon Rose and stay in the middle ages with her.

Yeah, that was pretty far fetched. It didn't make me angered though, like the frelling human daleks, but I hear ya. I am also feeling quite sensitive to the increased amounts of fast-paced action and thrills that are achieved by hysterics and fast cutting and spectacularness. Its not the Doctor Who I grew up on. But I'm trying to accept that the show changes over time, and now is a time when action is primo for most people. '42' pissed me off in that regard. So frantic. Clearly, I am showing my age.

OMG yes, 'The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances', 'The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit' and 'The Shakespeare Code' have been among my favourites. And anything with cat people in it I love. 'Gridlock' made me very happy. But I am sick to ruddy death of them trying to humanise Daleks, and have the doctor engage in trite philosophising about what it is to be human. Gah! There is much gnashing of teeth and wincing then.

But I am loving it. I also only just started watching torchwood last night and that is adding to my Whoverse glee greatly.

YES! I'm sick to death of speeches about how marvellous humanity is, seriously.

I accidently deleted one of your comments - by 'accidently' I mean it had spoilers for last week's ep and I panicked and hit delete, but then it asked me if I was sure and I decided that I'd leave it there and just Edit the post to say there were mild spoilers in the comments and I backed out of the page but it's deleted it anyway. Sorry!

Sorry!

Hey, I feel quite at home with tactlessness. As evidenced by spoilerage and tardiness with Watching of Important TV Shows!

Yes, I know its inconcievable that I am only just entering the wonderful world of Torchwood. I haven't had access to it untill now. I only just saw episode one last night. I didn't know there was Welshness! I am very happy to be joining the party.

Sorry about that. I was wondering as I was writing that if it was too spoilery and I thought it really wasnt because it doesnt really give anything away and they set that up at the outset. But having thought about it, you are right. It is a bit spoilery. after all, the whole episode is very suspenseful, so I think yes, spolers, SORRY!

It wasn't VERY spoilery, but some people (like me) like to go in knowing nothing about what's going to happen - that beginning scene before the credits I was all like OOOH what's this?

All very interesting!! I will try and pay attention to who writes what from now on.

Big fat sidetrack: I do know that at least two of the Dr Who writers write gay porn erotica under pseudonyms. Not Russell T Davies, either.

There were a few more individual ones, and then RTD wrote all the rest :)

I have emailed you :-)

I've got a Doctor Who novel by RTD. Started reading it, but never finished it. Must get around to it when I'm back onto reading (non internet) fiction.
