I have good flexibility everywhere except in my neck and shoulders, which have been steadily tightening up since I switched from an active to a sedentary job. The result of which have been near-daily headaches, hence my starting morning stretches last Thursday and the whole meltdown over sit ups. For the record I managed two on Friday, five on Saturday, none on Sunday cos Dragonfly was lurking around with a camera, ten on Monday, and randomly forgot to do any on Tuesday.

And then yoga happened. OMG the difference even one session made. I woke up this morning at 5:10am, BOUNCED out of bed and just pottered around happily in the dark, had time to read me some bandslash, and then gambolled off to work in time to start at 7:45am, where I enjoyed a headache free day.

The downside to eating breakfast at 5:30am, I've discovered, is that by 10:30 I'm ready for lunch!!!

Wow, zero to ten in a week — that's an significant improvement!

Maybe I should try yoga again. I was never very flexible and notice that I get even less so when I'm running. I get the neck & shoulders thing too when I'm at the computer too long (ie. before work, at work, then after work!). The only time I tried yoga, there was lots of going "ummmmmmmmmm, ummmmmmmmmm" involved and I found it very off-putting.

Cricket talked us onto lesson four of a beginner's class on the groundst that 'she'd done it before and her friend was quite fit and active' which is how I was doing shoulder stands in MY first class.

There was no chanting or talk of spirituality at all, just references to centering and focussing. It was good, you should come - Wednesdays in Shenton Park.

Wednesdays aren't good nights for me to be in town, but I'll keep it in mind for something to try in the future. Glad it's working for you!

Yay for bouncing out of bed! And for increased quantities of sit ups!

I do some yoga every day and find it invaluable for counteracting the many, many hours a day I spend at my computer.
