1 These rates I'm being quoted, they're per room, right? Not per person, like in Oz?

2. Any recs for hotels in Orlando? And how far out is Kissimee, anyhow?

3. Recs for hotels in Washington?

I'd usually suggest using priceline.com. (Quite possible to get excellent places for very little money, and all paid up front so you know exactly what you're paying.) ... but it's probably too close to the time to mess about with their bidding system. Hotwire.com can be a good standby.

Just like Australia, everything in the US is per room, with extra cost if it's >2 people. As [livejournal.com profile] doctor_k_ said, watch out for taxes. The US norm is to quote prices before local/state taxes. You're usually looking at 12-20% extra but, as those taxes differ by state/county/city, it's hard to tell unless the site provides proper totals.
