They say identifying yourself as klutzy makes it somehow self-fulfilling and I guess I can't argue with that since I can't remember a time when I wasn't regularly covered in bruises.

However for many years now I make the effort not to be so, where once I would have banged my head continually into the open door of the cups/glasses cupboard, now I mostly remember to close it, and have a reflexive duck and swerve manouver for when it's been left open.

Now let me mention silver_b_a's foot. Ack! Maybe I have Munchausen-by-Proxy. I *tried* to do a good thing the other day. Dragged her and Jodes off to RotK. Then ran over her foot. How?

How do these things happen to me and not to other people? (well, except for those brave enough to be my friends?)

Am I spacially-challenged? Or something?

So now I want to change my lj to cool b/w like Speranza's but am afraid I will come across as a sad little stalker fangirl. Really I'm not. Well, the fangirl part's accurate. Possibly also the sad part too. But not the stalky bit. I've only sent her feedback twice. Recently. And okay I got all excited when she wrote me back. I have to admit that. There were witnesses. But its *Speranza*. Right?

But I could harp on about Blood Magic by GatewayGirl again instead. *Three* people converted since last week. Okay, Trille and Jodes I had to physically pour them into my extremely creaky computer chair with Explorer opened to the first chapter, but it counts.

*cackles evilly*

soon they will all be in my power...

I have a secret shame that I can no longer bear in silence...

Tonight we watched 'Crossroads'.

*sob*

Yes. The Britney Spears movie.

*wail*

In my defence I was flicking channels to find something dull, and enervating Preferably with no vampires, screaming or staking. Cos, Bunny? Way to fascinated with the Buffy ep on in the background while I was feeding her spaghetti.

Expecting Bunny to be asleep within 20 minutes. 3/4 of girly road movie later she finally drops.

And still we watched, to the bitter end. Or rather, the uplifting/corny/wholesome/Britney end.

*cower*

And I didn't not like it.

So, I was thinking about why I've embraced live journalling so wholeheartedly.

It has *nothing* to do with icons, OKAY?

It feels like a community. (a really *big* community) Even when non-fannish topics are discussed, if I decide to follow the links, to be involved, I know that whatever views are expressed, I have some sort of connection with these people. Cos, really, fans (*especially* slashers) tend to be more openminded/liberal than Normals.

I can nearly hear all the BUTS. I'm talking about both my net friends and my real life experience of fans at cons -oddly, I hung around with the literary and media fans, not the Gamers, so the rest goes without saying.

Huh. So much for that high ideal openmindedness I was just espousing. But, in my defence, we've all met Gamers, right? Nuff said. Though there is this one boy, a Furry no less, who wears a dog collar that looks dead sexy on him, I can even live with the tail...

*clears throat* But enough about that.

So, talking about non fannish stuff (I do!) Okay talking about non fannish stuff that doesn't involve handbags, girly clothes or my health club. Or Bunny.

Hmm..

So anyway, read this article on the weirdness that is US politics and the amusing rebuttal at this ljer's site

http://www.livejournal.com/users/thebratqueen/390885.html?view=4736741#t4736741

and here's a scary article on Bush junior's idea of freedom of speech

Back to fans and their openmindedness, or lack thereof. Swancon last year. US fanguest, on a Smallville panel ostensibly run by poor little Jade who'd only seen 2 episodes and was soon cowed into quivering silence. So this guy, big Superman expert. Someone in the audience (a *guy*) mentions the subtext with Clark and Lex. Panellist response. "Not that slash rubbish!" and proceeds to ignore question. Bit later Trille comes out with a well thought out and detailed point (nothing slash related) to which he responded (paraphrasing heavily here) "I don't agree". And promptly changed the subject.

And on a lighter note, my second lj story rec. (I'm counting my hysterical ravings about Blood Magic)

This is the link to the sequel, also good, but from this page there's a link to 'Aliens Make Ford and Arthur Have Sex'

I swear this author is channelling Douglas Adams.
