My BFF emailed me to tell me that she'd just finished Black Sails and was super excited so I made her spoil me. I usually like to watch things spoiler free - I don't even bother watching movie promos - except if I need extra incentive, like knowing Hannibal/Will became canon got me through some pretty wrenching scenes in the first two seasons. Or if a friend is busting to talk to me about it, yay. I will for definitely be prioritising watching this show after this month (can't get involved in new fandoms when writing fic).

FINALLY got around to watching The A-Team movie on the weekend - loved the show as a kid, was doubtful about the movie even though I'd heard it was good. Or rather, doubt about whether I'd enjoy it since I no longer particularly enjoy gun fights and car chases anymore. They did the 'if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team' spiel at the end of the movie, but since it was 2010, and there hasn't been any more movies or a spin off show, I guess you can't. Which I'm sad about because the movie was so much fun, the action was ridiculous and the script was funny as hell.

And Flatliners last night, my housemate's choice, I wasn't a huge fan of the original, but it turned out I knew most of the actors and not gonna lie, definitely predisposes me to like something if I like the actors. Ellen Page, Elena from Vampire Diaries, Bhodi from Star Wars and the main dude from Granchester.

Dec. 28th, 2012 09:00 amLES MISERABLES was just stunning. The cast were fabulous, and Anne Hathaway’s performance especially just blew me away. Absolutely stunning. Disclaimer: except Russell Crowe, who has a lovely voice, but it’s just not powerful enough for the role. I may be biased, because still adore Roger Allam’s Javert, and of course Philip Quast was famous for it. OOH look, here they are performing together, how have I not seen this before. Okay, oh wow, now I've just found this "international" version Must go investigate further...I can see I'm not going to be very productive this morning...

I haven’t been able to throw myself into Yuletide as completely as I usually do, due mainly to time constraints, but also I think due to the fact that I keep getting distracted by Lewis fic I’ve even been poking at a few gen fics *gasp* Only because even most of the gen fics focus on the Lewis&Hathaway friendship, tbh.

Yay for dinosaurs on a spaceship \o/ Now I NEED someone to write Riddell and Nefertiti travelling with the Doctor some more until they get the hang of space/time, and then for some reason (like Sherlock is crucial to the survival of the universe) Riddell becomes Lestrade to protect Sherlock. Lestrade's wife and kid are part of his cover story, he really goes home to Neffy, or rather, she's travelling around doing important world-saving stuff and drops in periodically to have hot sex where she is totally tops him.
Because otherwise I’m going to have to do it and I won’t have the time until after Yuletide and then what happens after Yuletide every year is my fic writing falls over because I have all that telly to catch up on again.
My life, so hard.

Human I LOVE THIS. Ensemble piece, early seasons.
Eric/Sookie/Bill - El Tango De Roxanne Constructed reality vid where they're basically the main characters from Moulin Rouge. Normally not a fan of vids with lots of effects happening, and while the vidder may not quite have the skill to pull over everything they were attempting, it's a bloody good effort. I love it. NB - the first 55 seconds is a complete rubbish intro which seems to have no purpose but to show off the vidder's name. 55 seconds! The only reason I got to watch the actual vid is I was doing something else at the time and didn't have a free hand to impatiently click away like I normally would have. IDK, WTF

Someone's just posted a Black Widow vid (just her scenes from the movie put together in a pleasing manner), and a Loki vid to Red Right Hand, which might not have quite achieved what it aimed for, but still manages to do a good vid overall. Links here

My obsessive important current life
Jul. 10th, 2012 08:38 amI'm currently wallowing in the joy of being passionate about several fandoms - it's that time of year when it's between semesters so I can WATCH ALL THE SHOWS.
Additionally, I am enjoying fandom currently in these ways:
- Sherlock fics that people rec, links to piccies/gifs my Sherlock fandom buddy send me.
- Anything Person of Interest but that's going to fade soon ‘cause I haven't got anyone else to show the show to, and nothing more to read. New eps in September, yay!! I have LithiumDoll’s 'Every Breath You Take' vid on a lot in the background because I love this version of the song (only watch it every now and then though, and by ‘every now and then’ I mean only a few times a day.
- Avengers – reading fic, stick to recs though now, watching the cartoons with Bunny.
- I've been relistening to Cabin Pressure at work, but am a bit afraid to read fic nowadays, it all seems so angtsy and dark. Not what I want from my fluffy fluff fluff fandom.
Lewis – Occasional new fic that turns up, rewatching my favourite three songvids a lot, thinking of fic ideas.
Stargate Universe - been watching the eps, only three to go. Second season is freakin’ awesome. Not much fic I want to read on AO3, am thinking of writing something myself depending on how the series ends.
- True Blood - VIDS! FIC! Current plan is to watch it all again from scratch (and by ‘all’ I mean all the scenes with Sookie, Eric and/or Bill so I can screencap ALL their interaction - finding the time is the challenge! Am resisting urge to take a couple of days leave to wallow. *facepalm*
Randomly, have a DUE SOUTH fic rec - I haven't read DS fic in YEARS, it makes me so happy that I can still get so much pleasure from this fandom - Real Boys , by Salieri, an AU described by the author as 'a riff on Philip K. Dick's dystopia'. Fraser/Kowalski.

So, I wrote a fluffy, fluffy Lewis fic for Valentine's Day. Which, for the record makes four whole Lewis/Hathaway fics, which is the most amount of fics I've written to date for any one pairing...it's just they are SO PERFECT FOR ONE ANOTHER.
I periodically attempt to pimp Lewis, so this time I'll say, go HERE and check out lamardeuse's adorable picspam/reasons why everyone ships them (including the actors).
When I first started pimping Lewis in 09, there were only a tiny handful of fics - now there are 226 on AO3, and a reasonably enthusiastic comm (for such a tiny fandom) and even more importantly, alewis_challenge with a couple of super keen mods who keep giving us challenges! and deadlines! which I appreciate because I am rarely motivated to write anything unless I have a deadline.

Nov. 22nd, 2011 09:16 pmSince nominations opened I've been bouncing around people's LJs, checking out their Yuletide letters, thanks to this handy spreadsheet, investigating every fandom I'm remotely interested in, bookmarking a heap for potential Treats when my own fic is finished.

zebra363 came over for a couple of hours and talked Yuletide to me and got me all overexcited, so that when the geriatric pets woke me THREE times during the night, my very first waking thought every time was YULETIDE!!!!!!!!
So, got my assignment today. BEST ASSIGNMENT EVER. I am unbelievably thrilled to have received this prompt in this fandom. It is pretty much exactly what I would have picked myself. The details vary, but in new and exciting directions, yay!
It is also going to be a huge, not to say daunting, challenge. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO IT!!!!!

Why can't someone make a vid that just shows all the ways Hathaway watches Lewis all the time and the way they look at each other out of the corner of their eyes when someone says something they think is funny and their non-existent personal space and how neither of them date but go to parties together and hang out at Lewis's place and only take up half the couch and Hathaway says half jokingly 'thank god we've got each other' Ahem, what was I saying?

I do not own Lewis on DVD, and since they're British shows, they're obscenely expensive. Therefore I am only getting to watch them at an excruitatingly drawn out pace, as I have to invite myself over toravenclaw_harpy's for viewings. On the plus side, I still have more to see, yays!!!
I have however, had to buy season 2 because of the SLASH JACKPOT episode, despite the fact that I am now saving all my money for house-buying. Really. I'm pretty much living on hommus and fruit for lunch weekdays. I think I may actually be getting sick of hommus, which I didn't know was possible. Or it might me that I'm just not that fond of the Black Swan brand that came in an economy size tub and as such have been plowing through all week.
It was like FATE - season 2 was on sale at Amazon UK for under ten pounds!! Bargain!!! Once you add postage and do the currency conversion it's only....$28. For 4 movie length eps. OOOPS.

Aug. 9th, 2009 09:53 pmI am enjoying Leverage and Warehouse 13. Both shows' charm comes from engaging characters learning to trust and depend on and care about each other, which is pretty much all I need to make me happy.
Only other thing I'm watching is Lewis, whenever I go over toravenclaw_harpy's place. She has LURED ME into the fandom. She is SNEAKY like that.
