Guys, dreamwidth has defeated me.  I'm stil around, check in on peep's posts periodically, but whenever I decide to do a catch up post - which tend to cover several topics and there therefore long and require a cut, I just cannot make the cut work - even by copying and pasting the code for the last cut that DID work.  I just dunno what setting I've got on it (presumably I've figured it out previously) but I mess around and I mess around. Last night the cross post to LJ didn't cut either, but when I reposted it first into LJ it did work, but then when I copied and pasted it back to DW it didn't.  GAH.

I'll try to post short, one topic ones, I guess.  ha, like this.

How weird!

(In terms of settings, the only one I can find is if you go to Manage Account and Display, there is an "Cut Tag Behavior Display full content of cut entries?" although I don't know if that refers to the journal's entries, or on the reading pages, but I suppose you could double check that if you haven't already?)

[cut] or [cut text="whatever"] is still working for me fine (with <> obv)

Shame! Worth a try, though. The only other thing I can think is just to change your layout in case there's something weird going on with that. Otherwise, yeah, probably best to let Dreamwidth know!

You would not be the only person posting long screeds without cuts -- would not surprise me if many people are defeated by the cut coding. I'd rather see more from you and hang the formatting :)

No idea? cut and / cut still works for me.

oh man, that sucks. I have no idea how any of the fancy editors work, I'm just writing everything out in plain text like the dinosaur I am.

I still use the old [lj-cut text=""] syntax, but on dw, both that and just [cut] without the lj prefix should work, too.

You could probably check it by switching back and forth between the editors and plain text?

What browser do you normally use? I used to have that problem when I used Firefox. Instances lessened when I switched to Chrome, but even now, I will occasionally have cut problems. Believe it or not, sometimes that corrects if I shut down my computer and do a cold boot. (I have no idea why.)

Also, do you post in rich text or html mode? I almost always post in rich text, but when a cut doesn't work for me, I switch to html. I usually find the "open cut" cut tag properly set up between its < >, but the"close cut" /cut isn't there at the end. I then search line by line, and usually find the /cut somewhere in the middle of the post. I take it out, put it where it should be, and then post without going back to rich text. That usually works.

I expect that you've already long since figured it out, but I'm trying to catch up with people, and I ran into this post of yours, and wanted to add any potentially helpful hints in case it's still a problem.
