writing commitments including signing up for a fic auction

So, was thinking very strongly that I shouldn't sign up for Chocolate Box this year as it's probably a SIGN that it's due on the same day as this massive work project I've been complaining and procrastinating about.

But am going away with the fam for 10 days next week and I really, really didn't want to have to work on my work project while I'm away so I fell over my line in the sand and buckled down and am now mostly done, and absolutely plan to have it submitted before we fly out.

So I've signed up for Chocolate Box, requesting the same half a dozen fandoms I mix and match every year at Yuletide/rare pair exchanges (okay my Swedish film is new last Yuletide but I expect it to be just as obscure - I did get a nice little Madness treat...from the same writer who wrote the lone fic on AO3). I've received my assignment and although I only matched on one fandom I offered, there's several others I could write with a bit of canon review, am feeling spoilt for choice :)

And have also discovered Fandom Trumps Hate auction, for donations to activist/resistance type charities, so have signed up for that too because there's plenty of time to write for that. You're only allowed to volunteer three fandoms so I've just listed my three main ones, none of which were on the existing 'popular fandoms' list... so if anyone would like me to write them a Whitechapel, Sense8 or Lewis fic, feel free to buy me, I guess *g*

Congrats on the sign-up! Good to hear that you're happy with your assignment.

I was hesitating to sign up for FTH -- what if no one wants my stuff? -- but then thought, if they don't they don't but at least I offered. :D

That's what I figured, it'd be nice if someone does but I don't have any expectations, since no one knows me outside of a very, very tiny corner of fandom.

Ha! I spotted Regular Guys in the Signup Summary and guessed that might be you. Congrats on finishing your work project! If it were me, I'd probably still be procrastinating and letting it ruin my trip and prevent me from signing up for Chocolate Box.

Hypothetically, might someone who wins you in FTH also request fic for one of your more obscure fandoms?

I've TWICE before had to study for exams during trips and it wasn't fun and I regret that time spent. I missed out on a day trip to Coral Bay to swim with manta rays, while I tried to care about post modernism in community development or something.

Hypothetically, *g* it should be fine. I'm happy to write in any fandom and would have added more if I could. I have to redo my sign up anyway and plan to drop in a note to that effect. However, if a hypothetical person was wanting a pairing or characters I haven't written before, it would be best if they checked with me first to confirm I actually can do it - especially with minor characters, if I can't get a sense of them it wouldn't be fair to my recipient.

A hypothetical person might hypothetically be interested in some Edgar/Christoph fic - would that be something you'd be comfortable with?

I would hypothetically absolutely be happy to write my most rarest woobie fandom :)

...but any hypothetical bidder should know that the reason I haven't written a fic for them already after these years is because I'm not confident of capturing their voices well through the filter of some dodgy dubbing. I wrote fic for an obscure German fandom once before and I had fun but I'm still not sure to this day if I did them justice at all.
