Fandoms I currently am enthusiastic about reading in.

At the gathering the other day zebra363 expressed interest in how many fandoms I'm into. She's just posted her own list of fandoms she's *conversant* in. See, 'conversant' to me is a whole nother ball game, I've been in fandom more than 20 years, and I read in a lot of fandoms and I ship a whole lot of pairings. I was writing Mills and Boon slash in a notebook at school when I was 15. Hee, way to do Mills and Boon wrong, self.

My list of fandoms I'm conversant in would go off the page, so...



A couple of points:

- The bigger the fandom, the more I've od'd on it, the less likely I am to go back to it. For example, The Sentinel was my first big fandom when I got online, the first time I'd been able to read all the fic I could ever want in a fandom. Now I can't even imagine wanting to read a Sentinel fic, so it's not on my list below. Same with X-Files. However, rare fandoms I keep forever, because there will just never be enough fic to satisfy me.

- Also not on the list, pairings I didn't stop loving, but got taken off the table by the characters acquiring canonical spouses/partners eg Ryan/Esposito from Castle.

- Also not on the list, shows I love and adore but have no need to read fic in...usually because of lack of slash potential, admittedly. eg Misfits.

- There's a few pairings on the list that I ship SO HARD, but have never found fic for, but I live in hope, eg Hawkeye/Charles from MASH.

Except when I get completely obsessed and read everything and start reccing, I’m not good at reccing because I tend to just read what comes across my flist (If it’s really rare I’ll join a comm), otherwise just check out AO3.

R&I – I’d just go check out AO3 and start with the fics with the most hits – sure, I’ll miss the best fic in the fandom if was written two days ago, but in six months time when I feel an urge to read more, I’ll get it then.
Wiseguy – If I want this I just go reread astolat’s for the eleventybillionth time. I’m on the comm. (sportshoes) but it’s dead. The main writer you have to friend to read her stuff, and I didn’t bother. If I get desperate, however… Meanwhile Zebra363 would be the one to ask, she went through a Wiseguy crazy and she’s much better at finding Every Fic Ever.
Janeway/Seven – I haven’t seen that around recently, but I haven’t gone looking. My fave was an epic many chaptered one where they had missions/adventures every chapter. Hm, I think I tried to find it again a couple of years ago and failed, might try again after exams.
