The ETS was always going to be next to impossible, because he couldn't get it past the Coalition in one direction, and it didn't go far enough for the Greens in the other.

Oh, I know. It's that they're now deferring ANY action until after Kyoto runs out and waiting to see what the other countries do that feels like a betrayal, after stating explicitly that both of those things unacceptable.
