Watched a great three part series last night called Whitechapel about a group of cops trying to catch a Jack the Ripper copycat. I've never been much interested in Jack the Ripper but as one news article said, this series "makes ripperologists of us all".

But as interesting as the Jack elements were, of course I am all about the TEAM!

So the priveleged young DI Joe Chandler, who's Dad was a senior cop and is being "fast-tracked" is given this one seeming domestic murder to solve so he can move up the ladder. Piece of cake. He turns up the crime scene wearing a TUX. Needless to say, the hardened street cops won't have a bar of him, or his ideas. Led by their DS, Ray Miles, they're hostile and uncooperative. It doesn't help that he expects them to look smart and eat healthy and is seemingly OCD about cleanliness.

Eventually he earns their respect and in the last ep turns up the DS's birthday party (which seems to consist of the TEAM and their wives/girlfriends (not that we really see them).

Miles *greets him warmly* You didn't bring a friend...or partner?
Joe - ...you think I'm gay? I'm not gay.
Miles - Of course not, not on the job.
Joe - Er, I'm really not gay.
Miles - Oh the team's all really enlightened and accepting (paraphrased) Come in!
Joe - ....

And it's left like that. Lots of TEAM bonding ensues and he is completely accepted as their DI.

What's not to love???

Very cool vid, not spoilery for the end here I watched it before I saw the show and it didn't ruin anything for me.
