After my bitter break up with Primeval during season 2 I thought we were done for good.

Well-meaning friends convinced me to give it another chance, pointed out that we weren't really watching for good plot development or consistent characterisations anyway,

Watched the last couple of episodes of season 2 to catch up, or would of, if the season finale file hadn't of been BROKEN.

Luckily I'd previously (somehow) acquired a songvid which gave away the ending of the series, so I just showed that to Dragonfly, and once she'd wiped away a tear for poor dead eye candy Stephen, and I once again mourned the demise of the only other interesting slash pairing* we moved on to season 3.

UNFORTUNATELY, missing the last episode meant that when I accidentally clicked on episode 3 instead of episode 1, it didn't occur to us that anything was wrong when there were references to events we hadn't seen and, more importantly, two new characters already integrated into the team.

AND THEN NICK DIED, WHAT THE FUCK??? I was like, you kill off the two prettiest most interesting characters in the space of two episodes and you expect me to keep watching this???

So then I had to check imdb to make sure he was actually dead, only to see that he was in the next few eps. YAY, I said to Dragonfly. HE'S NOT REALLY DEAD, I said to Dragonfly. And then I went to the last resort, tv.com for episode synopses and realised my horrible, terrible mistake.

Watching eps 1 and 2 was interesting after that just for the difference in perception. Apart from the bittersweet of knowing Nick's DOOMED, there was the introduction of the (to be) recurring character of Danny Quinn. Cos clearly what the group will be missing once Nick carks it will be a cynical maverick sandy-haired take-charge male of that approximate age**

Believe it or not, killing off Stephen AND Nick has made the show watchable for me again. I can handwave plot holes and bad writing, all I really want from my shows is strong friendships and LOYALTY so Nick and Stephen's break up was what really killed it for me. And no, I don't know if they even made up before the end because the FILE IS BROKEN.

So now there's new characters I'm not invested in, I kinda feel like I'm starting again! Randomly:

- I really enjoyed watching that military liaison lady who totally psyched out Lester. That was very amusing. And I say that as a Lester fan. I could watch more of their relationship develop.

- At this point I'm thinking Lester/Becker and Connor/Quinn, 'call me Danny'. Yes? No? ...clearly, I'm still watching it.

*the other being Lester/Ryan
**the sandy-haired was probably optional
