From Wiki: The series revolves around the scientists of NorBAC (The North American Biotechnology Advisory Commission), a fictional organisation with a lab based in Toronto. The organisation investigates problems of a scientific nature, such as bio-terrorism, mysterious diseases or radical changes in environment throughout Canada, the United States, and Mexico. NorBAC is headed by David Sandström (played by Peter Outerbridge), the chief scientist and molecular biologist. Through this character the show often addresses topical social, political and ethical issues related to the science at hand.
Last night, after Dragonfly and I watched the last two episodes of season one Regenesis, and I shooed her off to finish her assignment due today, clearly it was too late for me to start studying for exams ::koff:: so I read through the list of 2500 fandoms offered for Yuletide this year and made a list of which fandoms I was going to read first when the archive opens on Christmas day, in categories of
- Group 1 - Must read before sleep.
- Group 2 – Can possibly wait til I’ve eaten and slept.
- Group 3 – No urgency, can wait til all family stuff and Christmas stuff is over.
Just as well I got my Yuletide assignment today, otherwise I might have had to keep myself occupied by actually listing the fandoms in actual order of reading. It’s amazing how much time you can kill debating whether to read Hancock or The Middleman first.
To be read asap...

*earnestly* I really am being reasonably productive at work. I had this list Already Prepared!

Date: 2008-11-16 07:09 am (UTC)Which fandoms did you request? I promise if you come up on the pinch list again I will try to grab it - if I know the fandom!

Date: 2008-11-16 07:20 am (UTC)That was the post! Yes, I remember now. You were all, "OMG!CHALLENGE" and I was like, "Gosh, I don't think my requests were that weird or detaile-- waaaaaait." That was when I realized the back of my head had some things filed wrong.
Daw, but you don't have to support my delusions! I will tell you anyway though. I asked for Cleopatra 2525, Mike/Psmith, and Persuaders. Apparently I accidentally committed a terrible sin by making plot suggestions that mentioned the names of characters I hadn't requested. I thought it was obvious that I was only expecting to get the ones I signed up for, since those are the rules, but fic often has other characters in it as well and I was just brainstorming and trying to be helpful, you know? Garrr, yuletide requests, so difficult. But maybe that means my writer will default and I'll score a bunch of sympathy fic again!

Date: 2008-11-16 07:32 am (UTC)I didn't want to write a Dear Santa letter at all - I'd given enough suggestions and ideas in my prompt. I get that this evolved because some people just put no prompt at all (I've seen one of those over the pinch hit list already) but the EXPECTATION now is that everyone does it - hence my note telling my writer to feel free NOT to read mine.
Yeah, I don't know the other fandoms, so if my chance you do get me as a pinch hit it'll be Persuaders *g*
I think I saw an ep of Cleopatra 2525 once - a bunch of hot scantily clad warrior women? Chick who played Zoe in Firefly?

Date: 2008-11-16 07:42 am (UTC)I gather some people are interpreting some people's requests as "I will be upset if I don't get this very specific thing that I didn't, in fact, sign up for." I just hope my writer can tell that's not where I was coming from. Hopefully, anyone who likes goofy fandoms like I chose is a little more of a relaxed personality.
I didn't want to write a Dear Santa letter at all
Yeah, me neither -- they baffle me! It's like you're supposed to simultaneously expand on your preferences and swear that you don't have any. My head gets trapped in the circles of politeness. But I realized that if I didn't at least make a placeholder post, the writer would have to keep checking to see if I'd put one up! And I do like reading the letter people write for me -- it's this fun connection to the person, I get all excited about making them a present.

That would be the one. It's silly and exploitative, but at the same time, very likeable and warm and female-friendship-based, and I love the Barbarella costumes.
