Still utterly charming.

I didn't make this, if I knew who did, I'd creditt
I have pimped this show before but it's such a feel-good, charming show, and it doesn't date, and I will quite happily watch it with people, or lend them my dvds if that's easier. Because everyone should get to enjoy it.
And if you happen to be a slasher, you're spoilt for choice. There's Pippin, who is a swinger and sex addict and I can totally see them in a fuck-buddy friendship, I just can't see Pippin being monogamous.
Pippin is sulking because Eddie forgot to do something for him. Shortly Eddie will crack and try to make up. He will do this by saying "Give us a kiss."
I've linked to this clip before, but I DON'T CARE - We didn't have sex, did we?
And THEN there's Eddie's boss, Superintendant Nathaniel Johnson, played by hot like molten lava Colin Salmon.
If I could do a picspam of Superintendant Johnson being all intense at Eddie I would, but I have legally purchased dvds, dammit, and I don't know how to screencap from those, so.
Johnson is Eddie's very stuffy, strict boss, who Eddie is cheeky to, and lets Eddie get away with crap, including calling him by his first name. In the first ep Eddie asks Pippin if Johnson is gay.
In the final ep, which I don't really like*, in a break from the quirky tone of the rest of the show, this is quite dark. Eddie is obsessed with bringing down this bigtime criminal and Johnson and Pippin are AFRAID FOR HIS LIFE.
Johnson, who is a 6'4", very powerful, and who runs weekly self-defence classes in his spare time is urging Eddie to ask for help on the case, says -
Let me make myself clear, the things I am truly afraid of I can count on two fingers. Anton Levy is one of them.
Then as they are leaning across the desk, staring at each other intently, face to face -
Don't put me in a position where you won't let anyone help you. I'm not ready to prepare for the worst as far as you're concerned.
(Really, really truly with the emphasis on 'you're', complete with eyebrow raise.)
Does not convey how tall and powerful and hot he is, but oh my, the suit.
*I think, because this is such a feel-good woobie fandom for me.

Pippin is indeed awesome like whoa.

Date: 2008-09-20 04:00 pm (UTC)Keen Eddie is such a feelgood show. It's like comfort food. Everyone spends so much time being good to one another (even if they are outwardly being cranky or mean).

Date: 2009-07-12 11:12 pm (UTC)Hmm, guess I'll have to just watch the whole series again - oh the pain!
I wish Mark Valley would get himself onto another show I'd like to watch. I just can't stand "Boston Legal" but I saw a bit of an ep the other night where he was in court trying to talk down an ex-con wearing a bomb who'd taken a hostage and MV was brilliant!
Damn, I'm all sad again that Keen Eddie was cancelled - it was so good, really well written and well acted. I think TNT or USA or something should go find all those actors and start it up again!

I think they were staking out a bank or jewellery store - the ep with the photographic memory guy who'd lost the robbers' plans. Damn, I should probably watch all the eps again too. my life, so hard.
