The whole row on the right hand side!*

He – Helium
Ne – Neon
Ar – Argon
Kr – Krypton
Xe – Xenon
Rn – Radon

These are all gases that turn pretty colours when electrical current is run through them. Except Radon, which is invisible and RADIOACTIVE. In the interests of full disclosure, I did not remember the correct code for Radon, but thought it was Ra, which is Radium, which I’ve already learnt, so DOUBLE FAIL. *cries*

No cute links today. Amtired, late, and my immobiliser is busted, so my car didn’t start. I caught the bus. I’ve been feeling horribly guilty since we moved to the new building about copping out of catching the bus because cars are warm! and quick! and cheaper because of the free parking here!

And I discovered it only takes 10-15 minutes longer on the bus (assuming I time it right).

OMG, THE GUILT.

*Except the last one which doesn’t even have a proper name yet, and is too hard anyway.

Can't wait to hear your comments on the story "Argon" which opens Levi's The Periodic Table

I know,I know, broken record ...

Happy, guilt-free learning.

I got it out of the library yesterday, along with another book of his that claims (I think) to be science fiction short stories. I read one at traffic lights on the way home and it didn't seem science-fiction-y so maybe I'm mistaken.

Will start The Periodic Table shortly, have almost finished Tim Flannery's The Weather Makers.
