Leather and pretty people

I've seen the first dozen or so episodes of Stargate Season 9, some of them more than once as Dragonfly is only just getting around to watching this season. Somehow, I missed episode 4 the first time around. It's now my favourite episode so far. Not for the plot, you understand, there really wasn't much of one, but Mitchell and Daniel Jackson ran around in matching leather pants and co-ordinated Indiana Jones' outfits.

Look at all these pretty people in leather!! There wasn't a full body shot available - screencapper should be severely reprimanded - I know what I was paying attention to during this scene.

Honestly, these screencaps are NOT doing justness to the hotness of these outfits.

I think this picture speaks for itself. *heroically resists*

Oh yeah.

I just like to dwell on the 'narrow gene pool'. Plus it's hard to find a picture where Mitchell shows more facial expression than Daniel.

Hee! Mitchell's all like - hey dude, whatever.

Henna tattoo or tights? I think we'd all like to know...

I like her undies! Plus, nothing wrong with some random Vala appreciation.

Dude! I forced this episode on you and you complained that it was BORING!

But I'm glad you've found love for it now.

and indeed, I do not really appreciate the acting of the Shanks, but the butt of the Shanks encased in leather is a fine thing and worthy of much appreciation.

[identity profile] cricketk.livejournal.com 2006-07-16 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
And then you fell asleep!

[identity profile] sarren.livejournal.com 2006-07-16 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? Are you SURE it was me? It's not that I doubt you, but seriously, I have NO MEMORY of having seen this before. Surely we would have had conversations about their hot bodies, I MEAN, outfits.

And I'm pretty sure I would have remembered Vala in her red underwear.

Didn't we start watching from the ep where Sam comes back, isn't that the next one?

[identity profile] cricketk.livejournal.com 2006-07-17 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
WE started watching from this one, because I was all Ben Browder in leather again! Michael Shanks in leather! TIGHT LEATHER PANTS. You fell asleep very quickly.

[identity profile] sarren.livejournal.com 2006-07-19 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Clearly, I owe you an apology.

Michael Shanks is disturbingly hot this season. I think there's subliminal messaging embedded in the episodes!

[identity profile] scotsnow.livejournal.com 2006-07-16 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Those last two piccies? I wanna take that home - especially if she's all henna'd up!

Can I? Please? Pleeeeeeez....

(Seriously, I didn't know Claudia was back so now I have to watch this, dammit.)

[identity profile] caitlen.livejournal.com 2006-07-16 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude - you live with [livejournal.com profile] akire_yta. How did you miss Claudia being in SG????? ([livejournal.com profile] akire_yta is BIG fan)

[identity profile] scotsnow.livejournal.com 2006-07-16 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Up until recently, we've been an all-Doctor-Who-all-the-time house (and I'm beginning to feel the shift toward Torchwood now ...) Who's got time for Stargate as well?!

(I've seen one ep. with Claudia, but I was under the impression she wasn't coming back. I was wrong!)

[identity profile] caitlen.livejournal.com 2006-07-17 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
That's just wrong. You need to see more.

Torchwood? I know Deadwood...

[identity profile] scotsnow.livejournal.com 2006-07-17 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
Torchwood is the new Doctor Who spin-off series with Captain Jack. Aimed more at adults (BBC are aiming for 9pm slot). The buzz has already started ...

huh.

*isn't a Dr Who fan but knows who Cpt Jack is*

[identity profile] scotsnow.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
Cpt. Jack is the Doctor's brooding gay piece of fluff. I'm not making this up. This is cannon!

Cpt Jack: Hi!
Doctor: Stop flirting.
Capt Jack: I was just saying hello!
Doctor: For you that is flirting.

Capt Jack: You're just jealous.
Doctor: Nah. With you it's too much hard work.
Capt Jack: Yeah, but you know I'm worth the effort.
(The Doctor grins)

Also ... they kiss. Seriously.

In the episodes he's in the innuendo/flirting flies thick and fast.

You must watch this!!

Captain Jack, formally of the Innuendo Squad, now saving Cardiff from alien invasion in a fucking awesome trenchcoat

I think you'd like Torchwood ;)

[identity profile] caitlen.livejournal.com 2006-07-20 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
but I'm not a Dr Who fan...

I think I'm rather glad I'm on the other side of the world at this point...

[identity profile] caitlen.livejournal.com 2006-07-16 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I loveadore this episode. :D It's one of the one's I've actually seen from Season 9. (have only seen about 1/2 dozen)

I will join in the appreciation club of Vala :D

Leather. Slashability. Hmmm. Have you ever watched Blake's 7?

[identity profile] sarren.livejournal.com 2006-07-19 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
*falls about laughing*

Dude, do you deliberately set yourself for me to talk slash?

OF COURSE I watched Blake's 7 growing up! Avon was my first and most enduring crush. I think that show is responsible for a whole generation of leather fetishists appreciators.

I could talk about Avon/Vila and why it's hotter than Avon/Blake, if you like.

Dude, do you deliberately set yourself for me to talk slash?

Usually, no, you just do it all by yourself. In this case, yes. Some of us ([livejournal.com profile] vid_leadgend) have been watching B7 recently. Inevitably, we started commenting on how Abba-like Jenna looks and then how well they set some scenes up for slash and that reminded me of you and I thought "this has to be [livejournal.com profile] sarren's cup of tea".

[identity profile] sarren.livejournal.com 2006-07-19 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
Hee! Blake's 7 made you think of me.

some scenes up for slash

Like all the scenes where Avon grabs Blake to protect him from something or other? Hello, the final moments of the show?

Or when Tarrant threatens Vila and Avon gets all possessive?

It was one of the early fandoms - I have some zines. Some have Jenna/Cally stories, or Jenny/Cally/male stories as well as Blake/Avon, Avon/Vila and Avon/Tarrant.

[identity profile] kremmen.livejournal.com 2006-07-19 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
Not even any of that. We're only 6 episodes in so far. (I did watch them all the first time through on TV, but that was sooooo long ago.) No Tarrant yet. They've only just run into Cally. I can tell it'll get a lot worse, errr, more slashy.

[identity profile] sarren.livejournal.com 2006-07-19 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
Oops. Sorry. I assumed every fan in the world who was around in the 70's had seen B7 - repeatedly!
ext_4268: (Default)

[identity profile] kremmen.livejournal.com 2006-07-19 08:13 am (UTC)(link)
I only watched them all when they first went to air. I've seen a few episodes again, here and there, inevitably. All the con-going does that. Michael Keating and Paul Darrow were at Zencon II here in 1988. (... and even by then they were stacking on enough weight that I'd think it would detract from their slash-appeal.)

[identity profile] sarren.livejournal.com 2006-07-19 08:40 am (UTC)(link)
Who cares what the actors look like? We're slashing the CHARACTERS.

Having said that, I had a crush on Paul Darrow when I was much MUCH younger, and I recently went to the official fansite for some reason I don't remember and OMG HE GOT OLD.

Funny that.

[identity profile] kremmen.livejournal.com 2006-07-19 08:55 am (UTC)(link)
It depends on how much you link the characters and the actors, I guess. The character's physical form and mannerisms are created by the actor and the actor gets old. Meet Danny John-Jules sometime and see if you can ever disassociate him from The Cat. :)

[identity profile] sarren.livejournal.com 2006-07-19 09:07 am (UTC)(link)
I don't. Link the characters and the actors. I have very little interest in the actors.

Except for the occasional crush *g* which is totally separate from characters they play.
