Yesterday I was like - Meh! Nothing to read, no recs to hand, not feeling inspired. Today my friends' pages are full of recs that all have to be read right now. Kylie's got a new Jack/Daniel, Speranza's reccing DS and lots of it, there's a new Eroica fic, [livejournal.com profile] psycho_tabby 's on about some Harry/Snape and [livejournal.com profile] helenish has a new Ron/Draco!

Must post something right now, cos otherwise the night's a write off.

Bit of chasing about this arvo as I followed [livejournal.com profile] dragonfly8's instructions to the museum 'opposite The Queens'.

*yes, yes, I had vague idea she must mean the Military Museum. Isn't that somewhere around there?*

After wandering about a bit, I asked people at a furniture store for directions, insisting that my friends could see The Queens from where they were...

Very amused furniture people suggested that my friends probably could see 'The Court' from the museum (as it is in fact directly opposite) Further, Furniture People suggested that the confusion was probably because 'You can see a lot of queens at The Court'.

Finally met with two exhausted and cranky parental types and offspring and wandered over to The Court for a drink. Bit depressing in daylight, very dingy.

[livejournal.com profile] silver_b_a's comment "I love the way you guys communicate."

Wandered over to Empire Toys next in search of Firefly as I promised it to friends as a wedding present (anyone can give a toaster) No luck as it is coming out locally in the next couple of weeks. However, at that point, Instant Gratification Girl took control of my body and purchased 4th season Highlander. My only defence is that it is the best season. I have no intention of buying any of the others. Of course, I had no intention of buying that one.

Then I attempted to give people blood. Which they turned their noses up at. I have a low iron count naturally, so it's a gamble whether it will be high enough on any given day. Usually it's fine as long as I leave it about nine months between donations. I got cocky. Four months ago I was 130, which is huge, for me, so I thought I'd give it a go. I tested 98 and I'm like, I'd be dead! I've never been under 110 - blood person blamed the cold for thin blood in the finger tips and took some from my arm.

112. CRAP!

Minimum for women to donate used to be 115, now they've raised it to 118 to come in line with the other states, and will probably raise it again next year . I won't have a chance.

I have good blood! Blood they use for neonates...

It sucks. I'm grumpy and pouting.

However I did have a fabulous hair day, which makes up for a lot. Recently I've been thinking wistfully of my short hair days....

[livejournal.com profile] mr_booboo, stop hyperventilating, I'm not planning on any drastic hair cutting!

All I did was wash my hair, run a brush through it and let it dry naturally. Because I'm lazy and can't be arsed. And all afternoon as I raced around town my hair bounced and curled and generally looked fab.

I worship my $10 hairdresser.

I worship my $10 hairdresser.

And yet, here I am still willing to pay $50 for a haircut, vibrating chair, head massage, complimentary drinks and much spoilage. I'm sooooo spoilt.

Give me a shot at this $10 wonder! (Am also exceeding cheap)

I spent years devotedly going to this cool hair salon, getting my hair cut by a groovy guy who does fashion shows over east etc, being fussed over, a regular. But over the years the head massages seemed to get more perfunctory, the wait (he was always running late, by the end I'd like be waiting up to an hour after my appt time), and the final annoyance, the cost just seemed to creep up every visit.
It eventually stopped being worth it.
