New fandom, Ted and Ralph from 'The Fast Show' So damn adorable, will bring back stuff and force everyone to watch it and then bore you all to tears about the fic my fanbud Julie in Canberra let me read, including a Queen of the Damned crossover...

Am currently sitting in the most ergonomic chair in the world. May never get up again. On the downside, am doing battle with a PC.

I'm somewhere over east in country Victoria. I know it's two and a half hours out of Melbourne cos that's how long it took to drive home from Opening Gala night of the Melbourne Comedy Festival.

Staying with lovely fanfriend who is heaping me with lots of lovely attention and fun things such as lunching at Browns Brothers and indulging in fandom obsessing such as Ted/Ralph, Paul McDermott and gay flicks in her 'Entertainment Room' I want to kidnap this room, I want to barricade myself in and never ever come back to the real world..

Sarren snaps out of daydream and clears throat

Have actually done non fannish real life stuff too - for example, the wedding in Canberra that I caught the red-eye to make in time.

Highlights - arriving in strange city, it's still dark. Turn around and re-enter airport in search of coffee. Ask searching questions of waiter such as "What time does it get light here?" "How long does it take to get to Ngunnawal?" and "Where can I catch a taxi?" Waiter's response - "Have you just arrived on a plane?"

- Picking up courtesy phone in front of empty taxi cab rank, Voice "Pick up point?" Me "Airport" Voice "Are there no taxis there?"

- Taxi driver, 20m visibility in midst of heavy fog, 80kph on highway, peering at mapbook perched on steering wheel.

- Groom's mother, in Extremely Carrying Voice, at shindig held at Happy Couple's house apres wedding "When he didn't marry 'Sarren', and he didn't marry Megan, I thought he'd never settle down. (Note. Groom and I dated for 5 minutes somewhere in the middle of our 15 years of friendship)

Much fun and catching up and cuddling of friends' baby, also much talking at them about 'Firefly'. Yes I know they just got married, have many friends and family visiting and other things to think about, but honestly, what's really important? Have promised them 'Firefly' as a wedding present. They seem impressed.

Visited War Museum. Same guide/security guard kept popping up to impart information. I think it was a clone, actually.

Also have discovered love of Starbucks' Mocha Frappochinos.

There, I think everything crucial covered for now...

Sorry, saw Lee Mack, another tall, think, pale English boy. He was fab. Sat in 2nd row behind this group of 6 16yr olds with moppet hairstyles. They got picked on by Lee. Fun and cute. Took piccie later just cos.
