I've had an extra cool week, even though I didn't get to the Fellowship Commentry due to extreme exhaustion from gardening all that afternoon. And while it's true I loathe and detest gardening in all it's forms, there is this glow of satisfaction from a job well done to offset the sore fingertips and strange insect bite Very Nearly in a Scary Area. Really counting my blessings here. Should be noted: glow of satisfaction only achieveable when 1. Results are blindingly obvious and 2. Other people there sharing the work, even if you do only talk at each other about hp fics (thanks silver_b_a)

Speaking of silver_b_a, I was under the impression that she comes over and helps us do worky things from the goodness of her heart. Discovered the other day that when she buys her own house and has a garden to maintain, she'll be looking to us to return the favour. Poor misguided fool. (Did I say that out loud?)

Obviously my extra cool week was not all about the gardening. On the Tuesday I finally got to Bodyjam again.

side note sarren's "week" begins on a Tuesday, as her stupd work week goes from Tues to Mon, hence always working the Monday nights - end of week paperwork.

And that’s' because I'm going to the David Bowie concert tonight!!! With mr_booboo and haunted_attics. Of course, right now I'm praying (not literally) the storm that's threatening doesn't break, oh, at 7pmish tonight when we'll be at the Supreme Court Gardens - and outdoor venue It's the middle of summer, goddammit.

To those cynics who don't think David Bowie is worth $160, I stick out my tongue at you. It's been 21 years since he was last here in this tiny isolated corner of the world and I'm guessing he probably won't ever do it again. And he's an Icon, dammit. For the scope and quality of his work, and of course for those wild days when he and Mick Jagger were busted in bed together by Jagger's then wife. Woof! I've seen the early footage of Jagger when he was a hottie…


Also good this week, getting hold of some 3rd season eps of Enterprise. Can't wait to show them to mr_booboo. Luckily I won't have to wait long, as she's planning on coming over to my house before the concert so she can watch some! In the teeth of Trille's laughter and derision.

Showed some to silver_b_a as a reward for the garden effort, and to make up for traumatising her son, HA HA yet another person addicted!!! Previously 'mildly interested' the dark tone of 3rd season is really hitting somebody's buttons…

Me, I mean me!!!


And yet more goodness, went to see 'The Angriest Video Store Clerk In the World:You Only Rent Twice" on Friday night. Agreed seperately to meet mr_booboo, tigerdragon, and Trille (only there for the food having already been) at 6pm. Explained to tigerdragon my paranoia about missing people and that she could expect panicked phone calls if she wasn't there on time. Tigerdragon humoured me by claiming that she was like that too. Got there at quarter to six. Realised I hadn't entered Tigerdragon's number into my phone and was about to call my longsuffering housemate to go look it up in my emails when the Angriest Video Store Clerk walked up and started chatting to me!!! Should explain that this not quite the milllions to one co-incidence it seems at first telling - though I was wearing girly heels and a mini-skirt. In fact I was also wearing a tiny little orange T with a picture of the Clerk inscribed Very Very Angry. So I was pretty chuffed. Made my day, in fact. And the show was good too

So, at two minutes past six, when I was just getting my phone out again, all three of them descended on my from three different directions. I was pretty impressed, and not creeped out at all by their timing. So mr_booboo, Expert At All Things Asian, led us off to dinner at Billy Lee's, explaining all the way about how there are two Billy Lee's, one good, one not so good. Only after Tigerdragon became grumpy at not actually getting the dish she was expecting when she ordered, did it come out that mr_booboo had brought us tto the Bad One. baffled pause Moving on…

Went to Vultures for coffee and cake/icecream afterwards, was amused to watch people being introduced by their lj names. Also funny to me was that everyone at the table had different fannish obsessions, so we mainly talked hp, as mr_booboo is unashamedly the loudest person at the table *eg* though Zebra did get a few Highlander mentions in… I would like to mention here my heroic restraint, did not mention Enterprise until mr_booboo brought it up. Did discover we all have Stargate in common…knew there had to be common ground somewhere…


Finally getting back on topic, got to my Bodyjam class for the first time in a month, only to discover they'd changed all the dance moves. Stumbled through first two routines, feeling lost and alone…

And then the jive number came on Knew I liked jive a lot. Now I'm in love. Should have seen me, I was just like Billy Elliot when he danced on the rooftop.

New mission, to find place to jive.

You know that I'm right on the verge of being afflicted with another fandom, don't you? The frantic scurrying and wail of "But that can't be all!" when I finished the first season tapes might have given it away.

And I'm so sad I couldn't afford David Bowie that I've started reading Labyrinth fic. WHy punish myself once, when I can punish myself over and over and over and over...
