Torchwood doesn't do things by halves, does it?

I had a rant all ready about how come the only female Dr Who writer, Helen Raynor is so crap? She wrote Daleks in Manhattan, the only episode of Dr Who I never bothered to go back and watch the end of after I'd had a corrupted file. And then, I thought, she wrote Torchwood 2.04 Meat. Which is not a bad plot, but is terrible for the way it regresses Tosh into a pathetic, colourless wuss, after she'd had finally had such an interesting, fulfilling role in the awesome, fabulous 2.03 To the Last Man.

I eat my words. Turns out Helen Raynor wrote To the Last Man - one of the handful of Torchwood episodes that demonstrate what this show is really capable of. *hearts Tosh*


2.04 Meat was written by Catherine Treganna. Who also wrote 2.05 Adam.

UFO (pronounced 'you-foh')

*creaky voice* Before there was the internet, there was zines. And you couldn't pick and choose your slash - I was reading about Commander Ed Straker and Colonel Paul Foster falling in love before I even knew what this show was. And then, many years later we got Foxtel and finally got to see it.

UFO was a 1970 tv series. It's extremely dated now, and not just because it was set in 1980. But it had a lot of really great concepts, not least of which was women in command roles.

I have been eyeing off the Complete UFO Megaset since it came out on DVD. It's $120 to buy it locally, $70 on Amazon. I check occasionally to see if it's gone on sale. Today, when I was buying The Saint Megaset for $36 OMG because zebra363 suggested we have a Roger Moore fest I saw the same Amazon seller has UFO for $14. I am very excited! and suspicious! because it seems too good to be true! but at that price I'm willing to risk it!

Torchwood can stop doing this to me any time now.
