8.45am Wake up worried that I am not particularly organised and make the supreme effort to get up and utilise those important 15 minutes. I have to be there by 12pm, dammit! There's pies and sausage rolls for lunch and I have the tomato sauce!
Check flist to discover that the Harlequin challenge has EXPLODED. Whimper. Attempt to move away from the computer. Notice thatnestra has posted a challenge fic. Whimper piteously. Say goodbye to extra 15 minutes.
9.45 am Walk out of the door totally ready, with plans to stop at the shops and get petrol on the way. Remember I'm supposed to bring a fic to read. Hyperventilate. Leap bodily upon doona cocoon on the couch and shake Trille frantically, crying Think, dammit! Trille, brilliant as ever in a crisis, reminds of the greatness that ishth and pulls the doona over her head. Find my favourite fic and hit print. Stare anxiously as it starts to print. Decide to use time wisely and race off to shops to pick up icecream. Fail to be decisive and end up with custard, icecream, yogurt and cream. Race home to pick up fic. Start to walk out of door and decide it might be wise to check the map that someone had linked to. Run to my mac and waste a couple of minutes failing to find it and give up on the grounds that I know how to get to Pinjarra and there's bound to be signs, right?
Actually leave 10.35am Stop at servo. Am rather bouncy and friendly to girl ringing up the petrol.
Me Hey I was here last night! There's a really good reason why I didn't get petrol then!
Girl Yes, you were the highlight of my shift with your Tea and Chocolate conversation.
I was someone's highlight!
Realise as I miss the Albany Hwy turn off that it's 10 years since I used to skydive at Pinjarra and the roads have changed. Channel my mother and decide to see where this new highway takes me. Spirit of adventure and all that. Surprisingly, do not get lost.
Lovely drive through winter-green countryside with my soft jazz tape playing. In a really good headspace. Am amused by rain shower specifically over Nth Dandelup.
Do not overshoot Fairbridge, am mildly surprised and pleased with myself (yes I know there's a bloody great billboard, well?)
Arrive at 11.56am. Go me.
About me, and some highlights -
- I missed the vidding panel. Mainly because of general ineptness and incomprehension of techie related stuff but also out of sheer jealousy as I am currently unable to even download vids, never mind make them. Instead I made myself useful lighting the fire and then wandered outside feeling all Manly! and sat on the porch with a hot cuppa watching the rain and chatting to new friends, including a girl with brilliant red/pink hair. I want that hair!! (Er..the colour. Not her actual hair. In case anyone was worried.)
(Did get to see some ofakire_yta's vids, wow! am looking forward to seeing them in a quiet environment where I can actually make out the lyrics.)
- Slash readings by the glow of laptops was just brilliant. Which is why I did not take my turn, honestly. Turning the light on to read a printout would have killed the atmosphere. Really. Also, I was sandwiched betweenascetic_hedony and mynxii on a single mattress and you couldn't have pried me out. There was SNUGGLING.
- Lots of random snuggles and cuddling going on during the con and that's the way I like it.Sleepy Jackson on the radio
- And any con report wouldn't be complete without …
zebra363 So I was reading this fic where guy 1 is on his back and the guy 2 is kneeling between his legs and Guy 2 lifts Guy 1's ass into his lap and I just don't know if that's possible.
