Marton Csokas on Changes Made to His Character from the Series to the Film: “Well my recollection of ‘Aeon Flux’ when I saw it, and I never looked at it since then and that was some years ago and I purposely didn’t look at it for the film because my feeling was, I mean, I loved the series and I didn’t understand or comprehend why that would want to be recreated.

And I had a meeting with [director] Karyn Kusama who alleviated a lot of those concerns because her attempt and accordingly mine included at the same time were to take some of the themes and plant it in a more human world which is sort of obvious, really, given that that was animation and we are real people. And so that charmed me.

As for Trevor Goodchild, it wasn’t in the screenplay. There are hints of what he was, and I was happy with that and I expressed those things at the first meeting and Karyn was in agreement with it, hence the darker hair and all that kind of thing. The sexual deviance - I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss that; but we do have hints of it but in a more psychological way and therefore more human way, arguably. Or certainly to the extent that the animated series takes that sexuality.”

Also, Marton Csokas is in Kingdom of Heaven, which means dammit, I HAVE to watch it now.

In the series, Aeon is a Sadist with a capital S, which is why I'm all: "heh! Canon!" in that scene where she's tying Sithandra up and saying "This used to be fun..."

I have all the eps on my laptop, and wobowikkles has them on the projector set-up (and she has air-con! *g*) I wouldn't quite call Aeon Flux anime: animation, yes, but there's not much of the huge-eyes/tiny mouth sort of drawing that I think of when I think anime :)

The episodes don't alleviate the WTF? problem but they are oh so interesting.

I prolly won't get to your place until after 5 so feel free to go the Mirrormask before I get there, I'm mostly in it for the games!!! and Aeon Flux, as for the wtf? aspect *shrug* I mostly just want Aeon/Trevor stuff so I'm not caring.
