I have much hate for Word - specifically flowcharts.

My boss has given me a flowchart and I have to add stuff to the side and at the end. How can I make the freakin box widen it's margins???


Edit Well, that was embarrassingly easy. All I had to do was click outside the 'canvas'.

I don't know. I only use Word when I have to and mainly for memos, letters and procedures. I'm queen of importing. I do everything on Excel or Snag-it and then paste the bastard on to Word.

All you have to do is click outside the 'canvas' and it goes away.

There's usually a a background box in which all the little boxes sit. run your mouse along the edges of the background box. The mouse will change from a pointer (or a cross)into a thick black line with a little line hanging off it. At that point, click and drag the large box out into whatever shape you want.

The background box is the one I'm trying to move, when I put cursor on it changes to a cross but running the cursor along it doesn't make it change into anything.

Because it might be as simple as needing to change your page layout/margins, but I can't guess without seeing it.

do you want to change the size of the box, or the distance between the text and the line of the box? 'cos these are two somewhat different things, and I can't tell which you want to do!

(and I'm with mr_booboo, word is just the wrong thing to be doing this in. and by the time you learn enough about word to do all the stuff that you are being asked to, the next version is here, and everything has changed, and you have to learn it all again. soooooo much hate)

I know, but it's part of a larger, formatted contract, I don't want to start trying to import excel.

Having said that, last time I tried to do a flowchart Boo told me to use excel and I didn't do any better - I ended up giving it to angriest to do and he used Photoshop!!!!

Unfortunately, it looks like I'm going to have to learn to do it myself if it's going to keep coming up.
