Whatever happened to just putting them out early for hard rubbish collection, which pretty much ensures someone will grab them before rubbish day anyhow. (... or don't they do that in Perth?)
It's fairly responsible. Unless your computer is really, really old, someone will want it. And if leaving it outside for someone to grab is too random for you, there's always eBay or freecycle.
