There's a cute little emo checkout boy at my local supermarket, black fingernails,black/pink/blue hair, My Chemical Romance wristbands. When I mentioned liking My Chem his whole face lit up and we had a lovely animated chat about who are favourites are, er, and their music. He expressed great admiration of Bob Bryar and said he wished he could find a poster just of him and I said I'd keep an eye out and I came home and thought how hard could it be?

Really hard, apparently. Band people? Any ideas?

Cute conversation between Harry Potter and Gerard Way.
Snippet.

If you need a visual of Gerard Way - lookee at teh pretty.

Gerard Way, fyi, is the lead singer of My Chemical Romance. This is the band [livejournal.com profile] akire_yta and I just crossed oceans* in order to ogle rock out to.

We had front row seats a few metres left of where this camera is positioned, so we were to the side, and a bit higher up - totally clear view!

The crowd rocks out to their most famous song. Were we too waving our fists in the air and singing along at the tops of our voices? YES, YES WE WERE.

We had the BEST TIME. The concert was totally AWESOME and [livejournal.com profile] akire_yte and I got to bond over our love of the music and the hotness of the Way brothers.

Just some random MCR picspam )

*What? Perth to Melbourne DIRECT flight. It totally counts.

I have just queued to pick up our MCR tickets. There were only two people in front of me but they took FOREVER to choose their show or seating or whatever.

[livejournal.com profile] zebra363 stopped by with cookies tonight because she wanted learn about BANDOM. I did point out that it's not a fandom that would interest her, but she wanted to understand what we were all so excited about. Aw, bless.

Results

Zebra can now identify members of My Chemical Romance by name, as long as Gerard and Frank's hairstyles aren't too similar in a given photograph. This despite my having confused the issue at the very start of the evening by calling Ray Toro 'Andy' (sorry Ray, sorry Andy) What? I was EXCITED. We have, however, stared at a picture of him while repeating 'Ray Toro' over and over enough times that neither of us will make that mistake again.

I showed Zebra My Chem's early stuff from The Black Parade, cos it's the boppiest, and my favourite. ZEBRA LIKED IT.

Not as much enthusiasm for Fall Out Boy, possibly because Zebra likes them tall, rugged and with long hair for preference and FOB are pretty much totally the opposite of that. Though Andy did catch her eye. It's the hair. (see Ray Toro)

Also, I did not spend as much time trying to sell their music, cos really, who'd believe me? So it was mostly me going 'Um, it's the FIC, you see. Everyone in every band ever sleeps with loves Patrick, I'm not really sure why but look how tiny and adorable he is and oh this is Pete Wentz who, it has been said, is the 'little black dress' of fandom'. He is pretty.

I did not confuse the issue by introducing any of the six degrees bands.

So now we have to rec fics. For Zebra. We have to be SELECTIVE. Maybe that one where Patrick moves in with Bob Bryer? Help me?

Then Zebra made me discuss what I think will happen in Harry Potter when I'VE BEEN TRYING NOT TO THINK ABOUT IT, and then I traumatised her and she went home.

Then Dragonfly and I watched Eureka 2.01 which made me all sorts of happy and then we watched Jekyll 1.01 and that made me whimper and wish I'd gone to bed while I was in my happy place.

There was no watching of s6 Smallville at all.

Who knew?

I have had numerous conversations with people over the years along the lines of:

Friend - You should try this new computer game!
Me - No thanks, I don't play computer games.
Friend - You'll like this one, it's AWESOME.
Me *tactfully* I'm sure I would. Only, I have obsessive tendencies, and I don't have enough time for all the things I'm already addicted to.
Friend - Why don't you just try it once?
Me - GOD, what part of no don't you understand?
Friend *is crushed*

So on Friday lunchtime I drag [livejournal.com profile] cricketk off to JB's to pick up my reserved copy of 'Life on the Murder Scene' As I wait in line I see Cricket has wandered over to where some boys are playing a computer game and is staring transfixed. Uh oh, I think. I wait in line some more. Finally I buy the dvd and wander over to Cricket, steadfastly ignoring the Smallville on sale for $30 (I'm regretting that now) I wait. I stare. I start taking photos on my phone.
Eventually:

Cricket - What?
Me - I can leave you here if you like. Only what do I tell people if they ask me why you didn't go back to work?
Cricket *pouts* *reluctantly unslings the guitar*
Me - What was that anyway?
Cricket - Guitar Hero OMG!!!
Me - Oh yes you've mentioned that a few times. I've never seen it.
Cricket - You should come over and play it!
Me - We've had this conversation.
Cricket - You are making me come over tomorrow and watch your My Chemical Romance emo boys, so you have to come over and play Guitar Hero on Sunday.i>
Me - Um.

GUITAR HERO 2 ROCKS!!

See, the thing about Guitar Hero is it's not about the computer game, it's about ROCKING OUT WITH A GUITAR.

Oh, come on. EVERYBODY secretly wants to do this.

And then after awhile [livejournal.com profile] juffles and [livejournal.com profile] ascetic_hedony appeared and there was chips and BEER and they sat behind us and googled lyrics and sang very loudly and offkey to distract us, and then we swapped and did the same to them, only my knowledge of heavy metal music is sadly lacking so I didn't even know the tunes at all, though I'd had enough beer by then to give it a go anyway *winces at the memory* and now I've suddenly got Black Sabbath, Janes Addiction and Lamb of God downloaded on my iPod.

No really. WTF? If you scroll down you can listen to a sample. I suggest 'Laid to Rest' - that's the one Cricket and I were playing.

AND IT WAS FUN.

[livejournal.com profile] akire_yta and are going to meet up in Melbourne for this because we are crazy people just. that. cool.

My Chemical Romance and The Black Parade - Australia & New Zealand 2007

If you go to the My Chemical Romance website it plays their music at you! Who knew. It even starts with my favourite, what can I say, I like boppy songs about violence and disaffectedness.

I saw in this interview with Gerard that they will be playing in Brisbane on November 28, so I went to their homepage and clicked on their info email link and asked if they were playing any other cities cos I'll happily hop over to Melbourne or Sydney, but does it HAVE to be Brisbane goddammit?

Only the email bounced.

HOW CAN I FIND OUT THIS IMPORTANT INFORMATION.

Also, I may possibly have joined their email list. *headdesk*

[livejournal.com profile] dragonfly8 *appears in my bedroom doorway brandishing a large knife* OMG I THOUGHT SOMEONE WAS BEING HORRIBLY MURDERED IN HERE!

I was singing along to a My Chemical Romance song.

And then she made fun of me on livejournal. This, she posts about.

Y'all be relieved to know that I won't starve to death as I have discovered Cheds and chilli olives!!! Yes okay, there was in fact heaps of healthy food options which i was ignoring. SO?

Let's see, it's Friday night, so everyone else has a social life. Even Dragonfly has a study date *sigh* I'm home. Alone. with nothing to do. except talk about Bandslash. Yes, clearly the time has come.

I used to have boundaries.  When the Harry Potter fandom came along, suddenly I was reading underage fic, but I still had BOUNDARIES.  Then SGA came along and then it was Crackfic! and then Supernatural! and the Wincest! but you know at least I didn't read (hardly any) RPS or popslash! !

I blame my flist.  While some were taking a walk on the wild side and writing Rodny/Teyla, which you know, is freakin' HOT when done right. others suddenly started BRAINWASHING us (I can't be the only one) with the My Chemical Romance picspam and media sharing.  DAMN THEM ALL..

So suddenly I'm an MCR fan. Of the MUSIC.  And the pretty emo boys in makeup.  Then suddenly there are links to fics.  And somewhere Along the line the fics have other pretty emo boys in them, that turn out to be from some band called Fall Out Boy, whose music I wouldn't know if I fell over it, but now I know Patrick Stump and Pete Wentz, hell I've seen Pete Wentz's cock (apparently it's hard to avoid: oh those exhibitionists)  (also; nice)  and then if that wasn't enough someone wrote an SGA CROSSOVER with the boys from FOB and MCR and starring the Panic! At the Disco crew.   Who?  Oh, don't worry, I have links.    No, I don't know their music either.  I'm over that now.

My Chemical Romance
(with emphasis on Frank Iero because he's just too pretty)  also warning - this is the picspam of DOOM.
