Eight Below

Stopped in Armadale for lunch on the way home from Slashcon, and somehow ended up going to see Eight Below, a film I'd never heard of, but Jody and Trille were keen to see, and hey, Paul Walker is pretty, right?

I should mention at this point that I am a sucker for dogs.

I spent a lot of the film crying, at one point actually sobbing loudly.

This site has a trailer, and some scenes, including 'introducing the dogs'.

EDIT - Massive spoilers in comments.

My dog went missing yesterday.

Found him today.

My sister is visiting from America - for four days.

And lj has been fucking with me for several days - lj cuts and links send me to empty pages, I can sometimes get around that by opening it using the 'leave a comment' link. But can't read comments either, obviously. I'm missing lots.

[livejournal.com profile] zebra363 provides a description of the day over at her lj. [livejournal.com profile] chaosmanor put some photos up, here.

Here it's all about me. *clears throat*

My dog. Oh, the embarassment. Used to be a show dog, and somehow we've never got around to getting him fixed - it's not like he usually has a lot of interaction with other dogs, and has never been shown what to do, so to speak. So today he meets a girl, thinks this is a bit of all right - then gets a whiff of the other boy dog and apparently it was Love At First Sight. For him, anyway. The other dog seemed a bit shocked.

I blame [livejournal.com profile] emma_in_oz completely for leading me astray into the bull ant infested zone. My leg now has a bloody great red swollen bite. However, I count my blessings, at least it wasn't in a more intimate area, like [livejournal.com profile] special_trille's. And I got my revenge on the little monster. Stamping it into the ground violently while screaming incoherently *may* have been a bit of overkill. Heh, I punned.

But Zeb's mum made this apricot teacake that made it all worthwhile, and I feel no shame when I admit that I ate *way* more than my share of it. I'm embracing my inner Rodney McKay.

And watching the horses chase the dogs around was lots of fun.

...and some trees got planted.

Oh God, it's 4:30am and I'm up. And not in good must-go-to-bed-can't-tear-myself-away-from-this fic kind of way. My old cat Sam woke me wanting affection, I hear a tom yowling outside and the next thing Sam's screaming hatred and defiance through the window. That explains the wounds on her side. My large dog is up on my bed growling, I'm trying to shoosh him and calm Sam down. And this friggin' tom is really out to make himself popular.

So I let the dog out to escort him from our property. Running. There, that sounds better than "I set the dog on a cat."

And now I'm awake, goddammit.
