So, I've always loved Being Human for the characters and plot, although I never really warmed to Mitchell. I don't know if I was biased because of the pre-air Mitchell's insane amounts of chemistry with George but I mostly find him whiny and annoying except when he's evil.

Last night we sat down to watch the first ep of the new season before going to bed at a reasonable time. Four episodes later it was 2am. Had Bunny been away this weekend we probably would have kept on going.

Anyway! Now they've introduced a new shiny character!

This is Hal.

He's a vampire.

With a bit of a Past (couldn't resist the mo!)

That he's sorry for, in a quiet way that is not at all like Mitchell's emo hair-clutching.

Lucky he has new friends to help keep him on the wagon.

Including a young werewolf he can be all intense at.

And who looks at him like this.

And playfully squirts him after he's just been feeling pretty emotionally tense.

As they run a cafe together and deal with mean, mean customers.

And helps out with his little nervous breakdowns.
Hal - "I used to ride a horse once."
Mean customer - "What's that got to do with it?"
Hal - "I had a sword. I was respected. Better than that, I was feared. Peasants had their backs flayed for looking at me funny."
Tom - "Are you all right, Hal?"
Hal - "It was brutal, but it worked. We had order. We had respect. And now we have this."
Tom - "Okay mate, let's go in the back. Have a bit of a chat, shall we? Come on."

"And I had a shield. A red one!!"

"You are not a very nice lady, are ya."

They face such challenges as finding abandoned girlie mags together.
Tom - "Do you want it then?"
Hal - "Why would I want it?"
Tom - "Well, I don't want it. It's demeaning to women."

"We should throw it away."

And then, and THEN, they have the most adorable conversation with Hal confessing he doesn't chat women up because it's not 'safe' and Tom teasing him and then unashamedly telling Hal he's waiting for the right woman because "Virginity's like a flower, you just don't pluck it for anyone."

And Hal has to swallow a smile.

"Well said."

And the adorable goes on and on.

AND THEN THERE'S THE TIME THEY HAVE TO PRETEND TO BE A GAY COUPLE FOR THE GOVERNMENT.

The govt guy leaves and Hal's like, "May I please change now?"

But of course, shit goes down...

And, that's episodes 1-4!!! Also plot happened, and more cute scenes, like when Hal and Tom try to top each other (heh) with stories of shit jobs they've done.

I'm lucky there isn't a fandom, really, or fic! Because now I can go study....this is me, going to study now....
