Yuletide fics! and pimping Curtis/Rudy

sarrenI stuck with my Yuletide tradition of writing in fandoms I haven't tried before. I wrote two Misfits fics for my recipient and a Ted & Ralph Treat (but that's another pimp post).
In the Air (Curtis/Rudy, Curtis/Emma, Simon/Alisha, 10,600 words)
Curtis has fun with his power, leading to complications with Rudy.
And a bonus fix-it fic for the season finale, Fucking With Destiny (Curtis/Rudy, Simon/Alisha, Kelly/Seth, 2,300 words)
My prompt was fantastic and gave me lots of scope work with. I do admit to taking advantage of the one line that read *not sure if (m/m) slash is really applicable for these requests but if you see a way to do it, feel free, because, like the scorpion, it's in my nature *G* Luckily, the recipient likes poly relationships, so I could have lots of fun with it.
This was absolutely the most challenging fic I've written to date, for two reasons.
1 We are so lucky these days with our slashy shows, where canon bromances just make it all so, so easy. Misfits is NOT a slashy show. Curtis and Rudy are NOT an obvious pairing. While Rudy totally seems to like Curtis, and personality-wise would totally be up for it, Curtis is less impressed with Rudy. Probably because Rudy is a dick most of the time, his heart of gold is buried very deeply! I really felt like I was going back to the old days, where it was like 'See, he touched him on the shoulder for 2.4 seconds! Must be love!' *grin*
2 I broke my hard and fast rule of not writing in currently airing shows, because canon can change just like that, ESPECIALLY in a show like Misfits. I was so excited by Curtis's genderswap power and I really wanted to explore it, and then I got matched with someone who wanted the same thing and it was like a match made in heaven. I was very excited. And then in episode 3.05, 4000 words into my epic Rudy/Melissa lurve story I got completely jossed and had to rework the whole premise, while holding my breath that nothing else would change too much. I was so relieved that Rudy didn't get killed off or something in the finale, I couldn't get too upset about Alisha. Sorry Alisha.
Very early in the first season Curtis calls Alisha out on her homophobia.
We are introduced to Rudy arguing himself about, amongst other things, whether he is gay.
Rudy, so excited about finding a girl who loves 'taking it up the arse'. He loves the anal sex!
Casual arm along the back of the seat.
Curtis and Rudy inadvertently have a bit of sex. I've had discussions about the issue of consent in this scene and I really wanted the characters to have more discussion / consequences from it. Am still hoping someone else will write it in more depth: Rudy was clearly drunk, and wandered over to see if the out-of-it looking girl was okay. Curtis was spiked, and thought Rudy was Emma. Curtis kissed Rudy and urged him to go down on him. Rudy obliged.
Curtis explains that what Rudy did was not okay. Rudy fails to understand.
Rudy, not fazed by the whole genderswap thing, presents Curtis with the pubic hair that had been caught in his throat.
Curtis decides to own it.
More bits:
In Nazi Britain, Rudy totally stepped up and joined the resistance and did brave stuff. Also, incidentally, informed the Nazis that he and Curtis were a couple (which oddly did not go down well with the Nazis).
Also, Rudy watches Curtis quite a lot.
And does not hesitate to leap behind him for protection *g*
Cute scene:
Rudy is excited for the icecream van, he points at Curtis to come with to help carry the icecreams.
Curtis pulls a face, but follows him.
At the van, Curtis feels the change coming on.
Rudy's like 'eh'.
Rudy totally checking Curtis out.
Here's he's about to comment 'never get tired of looking at that arse.'
Curtis *dryly* 'Good to know.'
Rudy 'Aargh, warn me when you're going to do that.'
It was all there in the background for me and then I saw this cast piccie, and I totally wanted Rudy and Curtis to look this happy together. D'Aww.
