finish line

I've been inspired by Boo's late con report to try and finish mine. It's in point form anyhow, how much effort is it really?
To recap, and because linking things is fun
Right, then, more things I liked about Swancon
Hanging with my homies. As has been mentioned several times, much cliqueyness among the slashers, though I prefer to refer to it as 'socialising with my friends' as that sounds less like we were deliberately excluding people. And hey, I talked to other people. I did! I went to a room party for at least half an hour, where I sat unobtrusively near a door and left when too many people arrived.
And I talked to Alastair. Though apparently not enough. He seemed a bit bitter. Maybe I should have explained that I didn't choose some other more exciting (cliquey) room party over his, but was in fact asleep in bed at the time.
I talked toall sorts of people several people I had met before, which brings me to my next part.
Flirting with an old crush So this guy I had a mild crush on over a dozen years ago flirts with me at the Masquerade. Bit of excitement. Later questioning of his friends establishes that nothing is ever going to come of this and I get over it.
Though, side note, Trille's Housemate of Almost No Discretion later says to me "Hey I saw that guy and NEARLY blurted out that you fancy him madly" At this point I crawled under a (metaphorical) rock whimpering and didn't emerge for hours.
Staying at a swanky hotel Cos it's fun.

psycho_tabby, cos she's cute and wholesome and has NO idea what she's getting herself into....
scotsnow Walking past him, getting a cheerful 'Hi' and replying 'Hey there, just been to your panel'. Watching him explode with indignation, moving on, leaving bristling bundle of belligerence behind. Still funny now.
Dead Dog PartyBoycotted the official DDP, established our own at Trille's place. Only invited the usual suspects plus
scotsnow and
cupidsbowand
baby_elvis and her hubby. And some of them are slashers...
There was much fun and laughter and people talking too much and too loudly...oh wait, that was me...
On to the griping, all these things seem (and are) unimportant now..but I like to whinge.
Hotel rooms expensive and too small but managed to fit a bath in, which was a plus.
Malfunctioning room keys Only significant in one particular instance when, having late at night put sleeping child in stroller, I make it into the lift where she half wakes, door opens at main floor where there's loud music blaring from a wedding, instant brighteyed wakefulness "Party!" Prolonged attempt to put child to sleep again in out of way corner in order to attend late night panel fails and I despairingly make our way back to room. Where the key fails to work. Shortly after am discovered slumped dispiritely on floor by roommate.
The programme, dammit. Listing synopses of panels alphabetically instead of chronology sucked big time. Having to look up each thing individually very annoying, especially on the occasions when there was no synopsis at all, so that I had no clue what the panel would be about.
Lollygobble Fan Sat one seat over in front of me. His bag of lollygobbles was in his backpack directly in front of me. Which he then proceeded to eat ONE AT A TIME throughout the entire panel. It was NOISY. And distracting. And revoltingly sweet smelling. Bah!
Missing next year's launch. Nobody's fault, but unavoidable as had More Important Stuff to Do.
R&B-HipHop DJ at Masquerade. Not his fault, wasn't told he was supposed to play 80's music. Got 'Tainted Love' in the end, so all's well that end's well.
Masqueradebeing held in dank nightclub with tiny dancefloor and oh yes, NO access for underage fans!!! Cock up there.
And I just noticed, while I had this entry on private while I checked it over, still it showed up on my Friends' pages...
