Anyone heard of 'The Wisdom of Crocodiles'?
No? Me neither, til today obviously.
What I'm failing to understand is how? Why?
Firstly, it stars the lovely Jack Davenport.
Secondly, it stars Jude 'I'm the Prettiest Man on the Planet' Law.
And, finally, and arguably the most important, it is a stylish, arty VAMPIRE flick. At least that's how it's touted. And can we say 'Underworld', anyone? Yes yes, I know I trash 'Underworld' but only for the acting, oh, and the script a bit; but it's magnificently stylish.
And for more droolworthy info on the Jack and Jude show, only just realised that Jack played Matt Damon's lover in 'The Talented Mr Riply' For those queer-focussed who somehow missed this movie, the connection here is Matt's character was obsessed with Jude's.
If this post seems a little Jack-centric that's because I spent some weird spacy time today between the racking coughs and raw burning throat incidents mulling over how I watched and adored the entire 'Ultraviolet' series without looking twice at Michael.
Then Norrington bursts onto the screen, sex in every syllable of that lovely lovely British voice....

Date: 2004-01-27 11:31 pm (UTC)It may have gotten better, but after half an hour, I just couldn't go on. May have to give it another shot when I've got the time.

Date: 2004-01-28 01:14 am (UTC)Oh, to be fair, it was one of those British think-y films about "Vampyres", and there were certain aspects that I liked that have to do with the biology of vampirism.
But on the other hand, the dialogue is atrociously stilted, the directing was very hit and miss, and you don't get to see Jack Davenport that much.
So, it had all these cool actors, Kerry Fox, Elina Löwensohn, Timothy Spall, Jude, Jack... and it had some interesting interpretations on vampirism, but it still fails. Besides, it was a bit late, it could have possibly had more interest in the early to mid 90s, this was the kind of stuff that was cool, but it was kinda passe by '98.
Re: Talented Mr. Ripley
Y'know, I almost bought Talented Mr. Ripley purely for Peter (Jack's character) whom I *loved* (and only a little bit of that was because of Jack). The moment he was on screen the movie was about Peter for me, Peter was just the sweetest. My crying went to inappropriate extremes at the end.
Ooh, there were some very sweet Peter/Tom fics by Jane St Claire (IIRC) at rareslash, if you're interested I'll try to find them for you.
Ooh! Ooh! just found out that Jude Law is doing Lemony Snicket!!EEEEEE! The fangirl in me just did a freakin' hurkey.
