So, I thought I was going to the bbq in Kings Park today. Live Action Quidditch was only one of the many enticements, as well as getting to hang with my homies…

See how I try to be funky and fail badly

But then there was this thing where I was just really having a crap day and honestly, someone would have only had to look at me wrong and I would have burst into tears. Safer for everyone really that I stayed bunkered down only emerging from the house to wrestle with Dragonfly's juryrigged watering system. It doesn't like me, it can tell I'm a pansy. I'm really hoping for rain tonight.

In other news, I finally got through The Fast and the Furious, and it only took me two gos. I watched the first half the other night but couldn't get past how much Brian sounded like Keanu Reeves - why did no-one warn me! Just plain disturbing. Also, there were a lot of scenes with cars in.

So I figured I'd seen enough, right? I mean, I'm already in the fandom. I've read that epic Bone/Maygra fic, it's not like I don't know what happens, right?

So then [livejournal.com profile] makesmewannadie posts TFTF recs!!! I know when I'm beaten. I watched the rest tonight. I fast forwarded through all the Cars Going Very Fast scenes, so it didn't take long.

Wow, I have a lot to say about a film I'm completely indifferent to. I did like the end scene, the tie in to the sequel, it was like one of [livejournal.com profile] helenish's rambles, where she tells you the whole plot of a story she's isn't actually going to write.

Question - The stories I've read all go on the premise that Brian is still a cop after the movie, whereas the tie in has him a fugitive on the run from the law. Is that because he gets his badge back at the end of the 2nd film, or are the stories AU?

And also Michael Rosenbaum? In the scenes of them making him over for Sorority Boys? Bare to the chest, with his No1 haircut and fully made up? Hottest thing I've seen in like FOREVA.

Love the gender bending.

Speaking of [livejournal.com profile] kassrachel...

Jim realized what he was doing, and groaned. Christ on a crutch - he was zooming his vision in on his partner's genitals. His male partner. Who was gender-bending. Which seemed to be having an astonishing effect on Jim's libido.
Yes, says everyone patiently, we all remember her fabulous Sentinel fics. Ah, but did you know about her Due South fics? Yes? Harry Potter? A couple of very cool Harry/Snape fics. More disturbingly I just read my very first Harry/Ron/Hermione fic, and I didn't hate it.

So anyhow, I've read (or reread) most of her stuff today, and say go read them all! But most of all read this, it's cute, and sexy and the RayK voice is spot on Parental Guidance. I was rereading my favourite scenes while in the middle of the story, cos I was savouring it. I loved it that much. Singlehandly cheered me up.

Also, the Blue Brothers fic that [livejournal.com profile] makesmewannadie recced that took me to her site is very damn cute.

Any second now I'm going to go send feedback…just as soon as I finish all her Sentinel fic.

Hope you're in a better frame of mind today! Nice icon.

I agree about Parental Guidance - it's lots of fun.

She's written some good short stories on [livejournal.com profile] ds_flashfiction too. Ah, I see they're on her website under "Flashes in the Pan". I liked the one for the "Ice" challenge recently.

And if you want more Harry/Ron/Hermione, Resonant has done several.

Jenny tells me she was meant to pass on a message about what I'd like for Chrissie. There are so very many things.

Any of the Patrick O'Brien Aubrey/Maturin books other than 1-3 or 12-3. The Sound of Music DVD with commentary. Dead Man on Campus. Candles. Chocolate. Lovely lovely things.
