Ack! Publisher question

sarrenHelp!! People who are actually able to use Publisher effectively.
Have imported an enhanced digital photo into a document (pamphlet) by copy and paste, but when I save to USB drive the image vanishes, white box remains.
Am I missing some vital step here???
