Ticking every stereotype so far

Creepy Asian guy in charge of facility lying to them - tick
Bland white guy as lead character - tick
Two supporting female characters both into him (this is 9 minutes in) - tick
Sassy fat chick - tick

*lots of gory violence*

So far, so not goot.

We can smell bushfire smoke again. This isn't actually that uncommon down here. Should have stayed in our old dodgy suburb where we were only at risk of being burgled or shot. To be fair we were only burgled once, and the shooting was in the next street, so.

Am catching up on Arrow tonight. It's clearly a rule in the superhero universe that female superheroes always have amazing hair that whooshes around dramatically as they fight, and that the villains aren't allowed to grab the hair, idk, wouldn't be fair? I like Black Canary. I am a cynical, cynical person and figured that because the actress isn't as stunningly beautiful as every other woman in the show that she must be related to someone, but I looked her up and she is a dancer and does stunts so I'm going to assume she got the part because of her athleticsim, go her.

I struggled on to the end of the Helix pilot, to the accompaniment of despairing whimpers and hair-clutching from Jody and sarky comments from me. Dragonfly got fed up with us and informed us in no uncertain terms that we were welcome to leave. It did have good bits, some decent horror, and the sassy fat stereotype surprised us all by not dying in the first half hour and later displaying unexpected depths. Other than that though, won't be bothering to watch any more unless someone sits on me and forces me to watch it after three years of nagging, like, say, True Blood.

OOH BARRY ALLEN JUST SHOWED UP ON ARROW. He's a cutie.

Have also watched the pilot of Black Sails - that seems like a decent pirate show, I was playing on the internet at the same time, but I don't think I did it justice, it was actually more talky and plotty than i was expecting. There was a lovely lesbian sex scene, to that was a win. The only character I really liked was the tall, permanently confused-looking one, played by the guy who played the tall, permanently confused-looking one in Merlin.

New awesome show rec - The Musketeers! This is my new fave version. I love that they've finally taken the confusing number out of the title so that it's no longer 'The Three Musketeers, Oh, And The Other One'.

D'Artagnon is beautiful, and engaging, and the other three are fun. Apparently a few people are a bit grumpy because they've made Porthos a POC - interesting article in the Guardian about why the hell can't he be, Dumas's grandfather was black and a general. Interesting that history whitewashes Europe.
OOh, and Athos was Lancelot in Merlin. SO PRETTY.
