Last night on CSI Richard Burgi ran this club where people parachuted off hilltops and caught thermals and flew for ages. Of course, one of them DIED. Me, I thought 'OMG that's in Las Vegas, CAN I DO THIS?' and got really excited, while Dragonfly started mumbling about taking out life insurance on me. But now I'm thinking that even if they do have a club like this in LV, they're not going to let me do it anyway, cos it's been ten years since I last skydived.

Also, I watched Boston Legal properly the other night, and by properly I mean, without reading a fic at the same time, or repeatedly wandering off to my computer, or even making sarky comments, because a few people have assured me solemnly that it is a good show. And it was GOOD. Not too much courtroom stuff (why I normally avoid legal shows).

Things I liked
1. There was lots of Mark Valley (Keen Eddie) cos he was on trial for cutting off a priest's fingers (it's okay, we don't like the priest).
2. Mark Valley's blue eyes.
3. James Spader totally crushing a credit card company executive's will to live.
4. The geeky accountant who couldn't take his hands off his thighs.
5. Denny and Alan ending up on the balcany together, this is apparently the norm.

Also, for those who haven't been paying attention, there's an ep where Denny and Alan Go Fishing, and Sleep in the Same Bed.

I have an Update Journal window open that's got some thoughts Dr Who episode 3 on it. It's been there since Sunday night. I feel that I am now in a place emotionally, where I can be more objective about it. Or maybe later. I've since seen the next episode. It is possible that I may be a little too invested in this show that has been part of my life ALL my life.

My Dad's had the urge to look up old mates in the UK. He was given written instructions on how to get to a site where you enter the person's name, city, postcode and it will give you the address. Unfortunately my dad hasn't quite mastered such intricacies as drop down boxes, or the difference between a web address and a search engine. So I faffed around for a bit - he only has their names and 'probably still in Manchester', which to my surprise actually got me two hits on the fourth name I tried. "Oh. it works, then." says my Dad, in tones of great surprise.

Dad - What I want is a phone directory.
Me *pulls up BT phone book, where you enter the name etc, and it gives you the number*
Dad - No, a directory.
Me - So what you want is listings, where you can look through names, right?
Dad - Look, I'll show you! *stomps off*
Me - YOU'VE GONE TO GET THE PHONE BOOK, HAVEN'T YOU?
Dad - YES I HAVE. *reappears brandishing phone book*
Me *headdesk*

But, not being particularly skilled at this myself, I can't find phone book type listings. Do they exist? I ask, because I automatically assume that everything in the world is on the internet if you know how to look.

Talking about knowing how to look, last night I had a look at RV hiring for BM. So I look up El Monte, the first on the list. There's a list of places that you hire from. Reno's already booked out apparently, and SF is a bit far, so I check my map of California so see what other cities would be better to hire from. Except I can't find these cities. I spend half an hour googling different maps of California, trying to get a more detailed map. Go to bed tired and discouraged. Discover this morning from a post on [livejournal.com profile] perthburners that 'Oakland' (and presumably the other places) are in fact suburbs of San Franscisco.

Mourn own incompetance..
