Reccing Alien vs Predator
Mar. 15th, 2005 11:59 pm"OH GOD SHOOT IT! SHOOT IT!"
That's me quoting me, not the film, since I said this a great many times while watching this for the first time tonight. I say, 'for the first time', because on returning to the menu at the end of the film, I discovered the clearly labelled Extended Version. And hit play, obviously.
This is a rockin' film. To sum up in two major points in no particular order of importance.
1. It has Aliens. And Predators. And they fight each other, quite a bit.
2. It has a black woman in the lead role. And she kicks ass in a reasonably credible manner given that she's, you know, a bit outclassed in terms of size, weight, number and sharpness of teeth and other pointy bits, and also has no guns.
**And on a purely personal note, it has that gorgeous black guy from the Bond films, (well for a while) who makes me melt.

Date: 2005-03-16 12:45 am (UTC)Also - you are a Goddess generally, but at this specific moment - you are a Goddess for loaning my B5 DVDs. I cannot describe the love and the constant wibbling that is me watching B5.
WOW!

Date: 2005-03-16 01:37 am (UTC)Me - Obviously that I'm drooling over the cute black guy, and she's drooling over the cute girl.
Dragonfly - No that's not much of a difference considering you're het, and she's gay. She means she doesn't like the film.
Me - No, Silver likes the mindless action flicks. She has a higher tolerence for them than I do. She means our tastes in hotties.
Dragonfly - You are clearly wrong and I am clearly right.

Date: 2005-03-16 01:42 am (UTC)I watched B5 with a level of anticipation and dread that no other series before or since has inspired in me.
(See how I cleverly avoided claiming it was my favourite scifi series)

Date: 2005-03-16 01:45 am (UTC)All good. I intend to own all Alien related things ever. D told me the other day that you can spot a geek by the way we slaver over "complete sets" and "collections".
Everyone I've spoken to (ignores <lj user="silver_b_a" for a moment) has said not only was it surprisingly good - it was actually good. I wish I'd found time to see it at the cinema. I imagine I would have been screaming "shoot it!" and cowering in my seat. Aliens really are superlatively icky.

Date: 2005-03-16 02:08 am (UTC)It IS good. I don't think Silver said she didn't like it. But I've been wrong before.
Predators are awefully icky with their facemasks off too.

I've never seen the computer game but the Alien vs Predator comics I read avidly about a dozen years ago. And I've had the t-shirt nearly that long. Fan from way back.
