Broadband is nifty. You need a modem to get broadband, a router to share it properly. A router can usually be obtained that includes a switch, optionally a wireless point, and a firewall, all for fairly cheap. The ISP may or may not install them - often they just give you advice, or charge extra for installation. I'm happy to help install it, generally takes only a few minutes, or their instructions sometimes are even useful.
