I just had this vague urge to do a voicepost, but it went away quite quickly. Not because the international call rate would be stupidly expensive, oh no, but because it's just too much effort to look up the country and area codes.

Sadly, I am that lazy.

Plus, I can just picture all your shiny happy faces as you click on the voicepost link and then 'tsk, it's just Sarren whinging about work again. Like we don't get that enough'.

What, you expected me to talk about World Peace?

Though I could babble enthusiastically about 'My Name Is Earl' - which Trille finally showed me last night, after I made her play me the Ice Dancing Cowboys several times...

(though I can actually play it on my computer now - if I start WMV for the sound, and then drop my AVI version into VLC immediately for the picture)

*headdesk*.

Future reference, because I like talky posts -- to dial the US is 0011+1+number, which is in a xxx-xxx-xxxx format.

Now tell me what numbers I need to put in front of MINE, to register the dialling FROM number.

Also, do I just randomly pick any number from any state, on the assumption that they all charge the same?

You shouldn't have to put in anything. First go here (http://www.livejournal.com/voicepost/) and make sure that you've filled in all the settings.

Then pick up your phone, dial 0011 1 714 876 2711. You'll be told something like 'Welcome to the LiveJournal phonepost gateway. To log in with the number you're dialing from, press pound. To log in using another number, dial the number on your touch tone phone, and then press pound.' It'll walk you through, you do the talky bit, and then you're good to go.

Yes, in the settings part

Your authorized phone number must be at least ten digits long, whether it's national or international. If you don't call in from your authorized phone number, you will be asked to enter it before you record your post.

Honey, just pick a random ten digit number that you can remember or look up before you post. It doesn't matter.

I'm emailing you my mobile number -- you can use that, if you want.
