CENSORSHIP

Does everyone know that LJ took it upon themselves to delete the journal with the hilarious review of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?

Apparently anything is game now.

[livejournal.com profile] astolat posted the link to the google cached page

Get it while it's hot!

EDIT: Apparently it's Scholastic that are the bad guys this time.

But, why, for godsake? The Ron date rapist jokes?

If you check out [livejournal.com profile] astolat's latest post they're talking about all the legality stuff.

Thank you thank you thank you!!

[identity profile] caitlen.livejournal.com 2007-07-24 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, It's just hysterical!

[identity profile] sarren.livejournal.com 2007-07-24 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
I know, and it's ALL TRUE.

I love how he points out that Hermione's the real hero.

[identity profile] caitlen.livejournal.com 2007-07-24 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
I love it all!! I love how he points out that trembly-Hands-Hermione sucks, because HELLO isn't this the same girl that lead Harry through the time-turner thing of the 3rd book? I love that he reckons Harry's Batman. I love how he's going to buy a lottery ticket if Dead Thomas' urine turns out to be crucial. I love how he thinks that Harry's broken wand is the most explicit penis metaphor ever!

Oh, it is so of the good.

poor [livejournal.com profile] scotsnow though. first he had to go through me reading the book on Saturday and all the associated noises then, and now I'm reading through this.. I think he's just ignoring me now *g*

Hee! I read it (with huge amounts of guilt and paranoia) at work yesterday so I had to snigger very quietly.

I love the bit where he was describing something and then just went
penismetaphorpenismetaphorpenismetaphor

And my favourite "Snape, finally, makes an appearance. What was that sound - oh, right, it was the book getting cooler".

[identity profile] caitlen.livejournal.com 2007-07-24 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
I just loved it. And Scot's reading it now and laughing a LOT.

I this this might be my favourite line:

Draco has one (Scorpius, who will grow up to try and kill John Crichton)

Because it's just so fan. And I also love how thisis how this scene is viewed everywhere:

Mrs. Weasley has a Ripley-in-Aliens moment and kicks the shit out of Bellatrix. Never underestimate the power of a Ripley-in-Aliens moment.

Cheers for posting this. I found it a bit harsh (or maybe I'm just a softie), but I did giggle my way through it.

[identity profile] sarren.livejournal.com 2007-07-24 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
It was harsh. But all true.

Still lots of fun though, and oh, fandom.

My understanding is that they have no choice if they're presented with the proper legal papers. See [livejournal.com profile] rivkat's comment on [livejournal.com profile] astolat's entry for more information.

Which is not to say that LJ hasn't been stupid before, but that this time it looks like they're only doing what they're legally required to do.

[identity profile] sarren.livejournal.com 2007-07-24 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Bugger.

Who sends the counternotice, is it the user's responsibility or LJ's if the user complains?

[personal profile] zoerayne 2007-07-24 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I'm not a lawyer, but I'd assume that's the user's responsibility. For the purposes of this kind of thing, LJ is the same as any other web hosting service.

Thanks :)

It looks like it's more to do with his Improved Archie community and it's history than the HP thingy

I find that really hard to believe. That might be the official reason but the timing's too perfect.

I imagine it's a combination of events - I'm not all that keen on how LJ is handling their business and am reserving judgement big time atm.
