Greywater and rainwater information

The installation of rainwater tanks and greywater systems does not require regulation by the DoW. They may require approval from your local council. All greywater reuse systems have to be approved by the Department of Health.

The Code of Practice from the Department of Health provides information on the use of greywater for irrigation in WA and a list of approved products

Installation is required by a licensed plumber and the Water Corporation provides a list of waterwise plumbers (WA)

Does anyone here have a greywater system installed? It all seems too hard and like something I would manage to screw up and end up poisoning us all.

No formal system. At Broome St we used to syphon the laundry water out the window onto the garden.

I've also had informal greywater systems at a couple of houses that involved hoses out of the laundry windows onto the gardens. Nothing bad happened, despite my kids being small then.

One of our jobs for the end of this winter is to install a sub-surface grey water irrigation system.
