Me?

I am vaguely considering, in a sleep deprived and clearly not responsible for my actions way, volunteering to talk. In public. To like, groups of people. About stuff.

The thing that mostly terrifies me is not the talking, it's the part where I'd have to like, answer questions. So I'd have to remember stuff.

Yeah, so, I'm reviewing the situation. *koff*

Go, go, go. With all my respect, admiration and good wishes. Do not spend any time thinking about how little you know (or else your feet will freeze forever)and think that your audience probably knows less than you do - and in case there's someone more knowledgeable, this will produce good debates and learning experiences rather than Loss of Face. *hugs you and waves [livejournal.com profile] sarren banners*

[livejournal.com profile] mcicioni said it all! (And beautifully!)

Also, I think your memory is better than you realise.

My Dad always wins our political "debates" because while I KNOW he's WRONG WRONG WRONG I can never remember specifics in time to call him on it.

Thank you. That's some awesome persuasiveness you've got going there.
I think I'll practice on my friends a lot first *g*

Maybe volunteer to start with smallish groups and take along reference material you can refer to for questions? And there's nothing wrong with saying, I don't know, but let me take your details and I'll get back to you (at least in a small group).

You don't have to be a great authority, you just have to know more than most of the audience.

Also, just seconding the you don't actually have a bad memory thing. People with bad memories can't remember movies that obscure actors have been in!

That's really not true. I never said I couldn't remember anything. My memory is bad because I can't recall things instantly when I need to, which is why I'm terrified of being asked questions. If only all the climate change info was set out in a movie starring Gary Oldman and Christian Bale.
