I'm pretty sure that our school is a fair way along the curve where sustainability is concerned - there are a couple of teachers who are very very committed, and the whole school has got behind it. There is a permaculture garden, battery and cork recycling, and various other programs as well. The kids do 'technology' projects that have to only use recycled materials, things like that. And there is some kind of water saving program that they are involved with as well.
mind you, when we tried to get a walking school bus program going, the p&c stonewalled us, so not as good as it could be (I got so pissed with various things that the p&c did that I withdrew, and only work on the subcommittees these days)
