Iron Man is FUCKING AWESOME.

When did 'the bit at the end of the credits' start getting called the Easter Egg? That's new to me, not that I'm ever at the forefront of these things anyway. Someone shouted it out when the bit at the end of the credits started at the end of Iron Man tonight, and then I just saw it referred to in [livejournal.com profile] angriest's post.

I could rabbit on about why it is an Easter Egg, but I have to admit that I don't know when it became one. I've been hearing about Easter Eggs in non-linear media like computer programs and DVD's for a quite a while and I suppose that the only place to hide one in a linear thing like a movie is after the phenomenally boring bit at the end that nobody ever wades through.

See, I'm aware that the hidden 'present' on dvds is referred to as the Easter Egg, because you have to HUNT for it.

The bit at the end of the movie is the bit that obsessive dedicated fans wait for. It's not hidden.

It is if the majority of movie goers don't stay to watch the credits and see what's after.

Yes, they aren't very well hidden from those who know the secret, but to the unenlightened who happen to fall asleep during the movie and wake up at the end of the credits it could be a pleasant surprise, or at least a surprise. (but I guess they wouldn't mistake it for an egg)

I do not have the words for how awesome Robert Downey Jnr is.

Apparently when the guys making the movie suggested him for the role Paramount said no, and they were like, no really! and Paramount said NO WAY, and so they started looking for someone else but then RDJ went through all the auditions and stuff that normal people have to do, and got the role.
