There, I said it.

I LIKE Z NATION MORE THAN THE WALKING DEAD.

We watched the pilot a few months ago and thought it had promise, even given the really stupid thing the allegedly competent major character did. So we liked it, but not enough to prioritise it.

Decided to give it another go last night, meaning to just watch one or two eps, ended up mainlining the entire season over last night and tonight.

I think my fave thing about this show is that all the men have facial hair (except the very pretty teenager, but he is conceivably still young enough not to have started shaving yet).

The main characters - good people who band together as a team and support each other no matter what.

The humour - terrible things happen in this show (one scene so horrific that for the first time ever Dragonfly let me fast forward through it), but there are also lots of tongue-in-cheek and laugh out loud moments.

Murphy! Not quite a such good guy, but his character development is intriguing.

The world building and overarching plot.

I also like that it's not as gory as TWD, sure, people get bitten by zombies and there's lots of zombie head bashing, but not the long drawn out munchfests that TWD loves to gross us out with.
