Yuletide fic recs!
Nearly every fic I've read this year has been well written, interesting, often lyrical, great plots where applicable, and many are quite lengthy. I do think Yuletide has become a thing where most people really stretch themselves and I read these and think of all those ignorant comments and articles that claim that fanfic is pathetic and I feel sorry for those people.

This Fic Has Everything (Sethon)
The fic that answers the question: why aren't there more fics where Seth Meyers fights Anderson Cooper for Stefon's love? Featuring Viola Gayvis, the broken bottle firewalk down the block from the Port Authority, the promoter duo of Don King and Don Lemon, and MTV's Dan Cortese.
Band of Brothers
One Unknowable Thing (Lewis Nixon/Richard Winters)
Dick Winters knows almost all there is to know about Lewis Nixon.
Common Law
come back around (Travis/Wes)
Travis is: unreliable, afraid of commitment, immature, and terrible at being in love with Wes. Wes is none of those things. This is where their problems always start.

Honestly, all five Eroica fics this year are fantastic. Will prob add to this list shortly.
Hesitation Waltz (Klaus/Dorian)
This is my fave because it's 20k of perfect Klaus/Dorian interaction, a great case fic and, my heart, the 'Undercover as Married' trope.
Blood Ties
This is one of my highlights this year. 30k case fic with great Mike pov and hot vampire feeding action.
Put the Heartbeat back Inside (Henry/Mike)
Mike needs Henry's help on a case that holds a personal interest for him. As per the norm where Henry is concerned, things get a little out of control.
Almost Human
Paradise Shifts (John/Dorian)
When a load of old tech is stolen, John has to go over the Wall, undercover.
Wallpox (John/Dorian)
Dorian experiences the inexplicable urge to locate Nigel Vaughn over the Wall. John risks his life to chase after him.
I really like the worldbuilding in this one.
Code of Conduct (John/Dorian)
“What? You tell me no all the time,” John objects immediately, turning to face Dorian fully with confusion plain in his expression. “You are downright difficult some days. Most days.”
This fic comes with warnings - I feel that the 'no archive warnings apply' is mislabelled, so definitely read the 'additional tags' section. My own personal warning is for (highlight to read) - 'not particularly happy ending' - I probably would not have read it had I realised that the fantastic relationship build up would not go anywhere.
Having said that I am reccing it because it has great relationship build up and because it deals brilliantly with the dodgy consent issues that the show ignores.
When a Man's an Empty Kettle (John/Dorian)
It wasn't like John minded going undercover with Dorian. No problem posing as Dorian's owner. At a private sexbot show. Where he would have to...Oh, shit.
This is 40k fantastic plot and relationship development and with a lovely, in character ending.

Enemy Mine
Hard to believe this movie's 30 years old now. I've always been desperate for a happy ending fic. Yuletide delivered one a few years ago, yay, and here is another absolute gem. I am so happy.
Over the Rising Sun (Willis/Jeriba)
Davidge and Shigan are marooned together, and from that they become a family. This is a fix-it for the movie, where nobody dies and they live happily ever after.

I don't ship them so might not have given it a go except I can't resist the 'Undercover as Married' trope!
Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries
Fandom of my heart atm, and am full of Phryne/Jack feels. LOTS of lovely fics for this Yuletide, yay! my faves...

I didn't expect to love this because its AU, but it's just gold.
(In which Inspector Jack Robinson is having a fairly uneventful year, divorce notwithstanding, until he acquires a lady doctor for a drinking buddy and receives a series of flirtatious notes from a jewel thief.)
a lack of pretense (Phryne/Jack)
He leans into her hand, and murmurs, “So you found me. Thought you would.” Phyrne’s throat is too tight for her to speak at first, but she eventually manages to smile. “Yes. Of course I did.”
The African Queen - CS Forester
I haven't read the book but I saw the movie with Hepburn and Bogart in my teens and shipped Rose/Charlie hard, so am rapt. I assume the fic is based on events that take place after the movie ends.
